Looks like a meyerhoffer design. Ugly as heck but I did see a guy ripping on a short board version of this design when I was on a trip back in the day. Would be really interesting to try
Where should I go surf while living in Seattle? I've lived in the desert for 10 years with only getting out a maximum of 3 times a year so I'm not that great

I’m surfings biggest hater. I swear, how the fuck do you guys catch the wave. Went surfing about 15 times in my life and caught a wave once, was able to shred for all of 1 minute on a short board, but I’ve wasted so many hours just waiting for the right waves, paddling into them, and missing them

Standing up and riding the wave is only a small percentage of surfing. I think as wave pools become more popular we will see people become very good surfers who have never surfed in the ocean.
Reading the ocean, interpreting how the sets come in, the angle, size. That’s why local knowledge is so important. I surf at a pretty popular holiday destination and you can instantly tell who’s not from around there purely from how they position themselves in the lineup and which waves they choose.

That’s the other thing as well. It’s the infinite loop or whatever, bad at surfing, goes surfing, gets asked to leave by locals, bad at surfing still.
Ive always wanted to learn but mfs get so mad (rightfully so cuz even on a sick surf day you don’t get a lot of waves). So idk, I haven’t been surfing since 16 and prob won’t go again ever

U should really just get a nice 9 foot longboard, they are easy to catch waves on. Especially when you don't have waves with a lot of power in them. You can still carve and get barreled out on a longboard if the waves are 10ft and then go out on a 3ft day and have just as much fun. Plus you can train a dog to surf with you on the front of your longboard.
