Riding lowest din

Is riding on the lowest din setting available on a binding bad?
Ex
look 15 at 6
attacks 17 at 6
all lowest setting

The release value of 6 is the same whether that 6 is the start of the scale, in the middle of the scale or at the end of the scale. Every setting of the binding works as intended.

So I’m good! Cause I was having a debate with some one. He was saying that it is bad (needed a din in middle of the range)

The "you need to be in the middle of the DIN range" doesn't apply for how the settings behave.

The only risk you run being at the very start of the DIN range is if you lose weight, get a bigger boot, drop down an ability level, etc. basically anything that causes your release value to go down, you won't be able to with this binding.

lowest is probably fine but maxing out dons I think is problematic for some reason that I can’t remember

I hear people say that "stay in the middle of the din range" rule all the time but I think its more about your din changing than the functionality of the binding. Prob works fine at the lowest din

Yeah it's more like it's the target to ride in the middle of the range as possible but it's not a functionality issue at all. It's more like if you ride at 7 or whatever on a pivot 15, you could've saved some money and got a piv 12. Save weight too.

Yea to echo nerdykid, DIN settings are a regulated standard, if you're in the DIN/ISO range you're good enough. IF we're being nitpicky here I'd say stray towards beefier bindings, mostly just because they tend to have more stout construction. There's some theories around how spring constants relate to usable elasticity but I wouldn't sweat that, its just speculation
