I've noticed lots of people selling their P2 camera setups recently, is there finally a shift of people going away from these cameras to more modern setups. If so what cameras/camcorders are people moving too? I love my HVX, but I'd be down to not deal with p2 files anymore. Let me know!
Usually how it goes is they move to something similar but digital because they get tired of dealing with the p2 cards. Certainly if you’re core you will still use the HVX
Probably prefer 1080 over the lowkey shitty 720. Doesn’t look that good when the camera is zoomed all the way out but can look a lot better and more crisp when you’re hella zoomed in for some reason.
P2 cards, CCDs, 720p60, true resolution is 900 lines, its just an old camera. Back when most people had smaller/lower res monitors/screens it looked fine, but now its dating itself. It can be like SD where it is a look people want, but you can get an HMC150 for less, it has CMOS and uses sd cards, its just a no brainer to ditch the (not so) old tech sometimes like P2 cards.
I've noticed more people selling hvxs lately, but maybe that's just because I've been paying more attention to hvx sales for the last few years. I think there's a decent amount of people who are switching to hmc150s but that's just based on anecdotal evidence so I could be completely wrong about that. I think hvxs could be played in regard to the fact that there are lots of people who want to imitate strobeck. That being said, there's lots of different filming styles to go with. In my humble (and biased) opinion, it's all about how you use the camera. There's so much variety with how you could film and edit your footage so I don't think people should hesitate to buy a camera because lots of people use/don't use it.
