How often do you guys buy new gear?

I've been riding in the same coat/pants/hoodie for like 12 years. Gloves seem to get torn up a lot faster between towropes, carrying skis uphill hiking rails, ect. I seem to break a pair of skis every 1.5-2 years. And bindings I literally never break

definitely understand that. i think i’ve just gotten into this habit and mindset that because i don’t have any other expenses, since i’m still in high school and live at home, the money i make can kind of just be spent on whatever. i think when i start college next year, i’ll be more conscious of how i spend my money and develop that mindset of not fixing or replacing if i don’t need to.

I feel like i'm constantly selling gear to make room for new gear. There is something every year i'm super curious about, but not being made of money i need to make room for it and ditch something else. This is true for skis, boots, outerwear, and tech gear. But i would say im getting something new pretty often

just keep your eyes open for deals all the time and make connections. Makes updating the quiver a lot easier. Pro deals/codes, friends offloading for cheap, NS good deals thread, FB, ebay, localssale. You can get some stupid good deals. There are some Armada ARV86s on LS for like $50-75 right now

Also, a lot of smaller, Indy companies will work you with payment if you hit them up

Skis ~5 years, boots I stopped buying once my foot stopped growing, same gloves as when I was 12, never bought a pair of poles

hoodies all the time and pants / outerwear whenever I find a nice deal, last year lived with parents bought mad outerwear

My park skis last anywhere from 2-4 years. My #1 advice to making your skis last is repairing ASAP after damage occurrs. Letting your core stay exposed shortens the life of a ski so much. Also, rails sharpen round edges. Round that shit off with a diamond file.

For best results repairing a ski: rough up any area making contact with epoxy with sandpaper or a razor. Remove all dust and grime. I use acetone/paint thinner/denatured alcohol to wipe away any oils and grime. Let the area fully dry before applying epoxy. Use a sanding block to get the surface even. You can use masking tape to protect base material if it's a core shot. G Flex is great for core shots. JB weld is my last resort but I keep a small packet in my backpack for emergencies.

Rivets kinda suck for stopping delams. Spiked t nuts hold way better.

Switch your left and right ski around if you hit rails. It'll even out edge wear.

Beater skis for low coverage days/low base pow days will greatly extend the life of your current pair. I get a new pair before my current pair is too fucked to use so it can make a good beater ski. More expensive short term but it will save you money long term.

PM me if you want advice repairing your skis, I hate seeing skis with life left in them get thrown away.
