I think this is worthy of ski gabber, although it might be more non-ski? I haven't even looked at the non ski forum in over a literal decade though so fuck that shit.
I have only had the privilege of attending Burning Man once back in 2010 and unfortunately in the spring of 2011 I was banned from entering the US (it's a story, and not this story so let's move on). While I did not have a very good time while participating I did see the potential and have always wanted to go hack with something tangible to contribute to the city - a jib park.
I was hanging out with a good friend in August a few days before he was about to head down to the burn and we were talking art projects, interactive builds, and all the things that make Burning man Burning man. It brought me back to the stoke I had before my ban, reminding me what i wanted to bring to the playa, and realizing that as the years go by, my plan becomes less of a plan and more of a dream. Besides for all I know, my dream has actually already been seen to fruition and I'm just a washed up old fart out of touch. Anyways...
My plan was to bring a jib park to BRC. Obviously the typical summer jib setup won't fly due to the soap/water situation so I thought about getting those conveyor rollers instead. Fill a U-Haul with scaffolding, rollers, two rails and a box, a few skis (with demo bindings) and snowboards and a collection of boots of various sizes. Never fully figured out the nest material for the landing area but maybe some partical board or if you really wanna go for it that plastic carpet shit they use for the carpet ski hills.
At this point I don't foresee myself ever being able to do this due to where I'm at in my life, so with optimistic hope I bring this proposal/challenge to you - the most amazing, legit, core, obsessed ski culture motherfuckers on the planet. I call upon you to fulfill my dream. Get a crew together, apply to the org and get placement and make BRC Jib Park a reality! I know that there are burners here, especially you Tahoe folks. Do it for this washed up OG, nay - do it for skiing!
