Woodward rollerskis vs blades

Went to woodies for the first time and had a great time on the foam pit. I used their rollerskis and found they were nice for adding grabs to flips/spins but not being able to carve made setting tricks weird. Is that because I need to practice my sets more or would blades be better for foam pit practice?

I hear lots of mixed opinions on this. Personally I feel like for flips and grabs it’s better to use roller skis so you can have that weight reference. But lots of people prefer blades… i’d assume because you’re more agile on them idk though because I haven’t tried blades there.

I have long heard blades over the skis for the reason you mentioned. Even Henny uses the blades

blades will help improve your balance more. skis will be a more realistic weight on your feet.

Would any well fitting aggressive blades do or are there specific boxes they need to check? Being able to set an edge on takeoff like I would on snow seems to be worth getting them

never been on one but it seems like blades (so you can "carve" into your trick) with ankle weights (to simulate skis/boots weight) would be the most helpful

I tried the roller skis at boreal this past spring and was expecting to throw down all kinds of cool shit I can’t commit to on snow but ended up just spending the whole time just trying to get used to the damn things. They felt weeeeird.

you really won't be able to carve much unless you're going pretty slow regardless. I was hitting them on hockey blades with rocker.. that was very sketchy. As long as the wheels are flat any skate will be fine.

If your super serious about training tricks for winter maybe using roller skis is better but blades are just easier/funner and will still get you familiar with different spins. In my experience its gonna feel different when you are actually on top of a real ski jump regardless of whether you trained on roller skis or rollerblades so I would go with the blades.

Also, when you have blades, you can get tons of hits on the small jump onto the airbag. I like doing this so I can get used to spins without having to crawl out of the foam pit every time, plus when you land on the airbag you get a better feel for how balanced you will be when you land.
