SchoessLiterally no one that lives here wants this lol
sarcThis was always my dream. I think it's a lot more expensive and they want the public to pay for it so it'd be harder to pass.
Depends on what problem you're trying to solve.
Saturday shitshow:
Gondola makes this much worse.
Parking:
Gondola helps, not a full solution.
Snowy roads:
Gondola helps a lot. Assuming you can get on IT.
Red snake:
Gondola helps a little. Getting rid of that damn pedestrian crossing at the sled hill would be way better.
Make $bank on my shit land at the foot of the canyon at taxpayer expense:
Gondola is the perfect solution.
skiermanIts good to know kids like you who have only lived in Utah for a few years feel so compelled to speak on everyone's behalf.
Fuck off, you fake piece of fat shit.
SchoessI'm not real and I weigh a lot?
skiermanWhy are you still posting? Shouldn't you be out there mispresenting peoples' opinions?
Monsieur_Patatelast poll had only 20% of people in favor of the gondola, most people def don't want the gondola dude. Go and read UDOT's report with all the public comments if you need confirmation tho.

skiermanLOL most people don't want anything to change, you dumb fuck.
Monsieur_PatateYou're the one who said he was misrepresenting people's opinion.. Regardless of the reason why people don't want the gondola, the fact remains that people do not, in fact, want the gondola, so he didn't misrepresent people's opinion?
Not sure who the dumb fuck is.
ProboscisI feel like the gondola will be so fucking slow that no one will use it.
arnie_grapewait so where does this gondola take you and why is it $550M? do the cabins all have hot tubs?
wasatch_ratOh they're trying to expand lifts, but pretty much all the locals are against it. There's a rich history of backcountry skiing in the cottonwood canyons, and people really don't want to see that terrain become inbounds. Iconic spots like chad's gap and pyramid gap, and wolverine cirque should remain backcountry.
wasatch_ratWhy am I being downvoted? You fuckers really want Grizzly gulch and wolverine cirque to be inbounds? No more shots from chads or pyramid? Whats wrong with ya'll?

wasatch_ratWhy am I being downvoted?
skiermanBecause you're a dumb fucking pussy that cares about an imaginary point system on a ski forum.
Monsieur_PatatePretty sure this is going to end up costing $1B or more. This was the estimate from a year and a half ago, construction projects are always underestimated, and on top of that inflation has been insane since then. If it's privately funded then it's not my problem, but if it ends up being public money (as they're hoping) it'd probably be up there as the silliest thing a billion dollar of taxpayer money was ever spent on.
arnie_grapethank you for answering neither of my questions

SFBv420.0and make it 25 or 50 bucks to drive
PeppermillRenoYou want people to die from avalanches? How many people skiing out of bounds is too many? You know what you are doing so its cool but everyone else is an idiot etc.
SLC is big and ski oriented. Direct flights everywhere. If they doubled the lift serviced terrain (not greens and blues like is goign next to Deer Valley) it would be awesome and there would be no lift lines.
Yo won't half the crowds unless the toll to drive up the canyon is 100 bucks per car. You want that?
DeebieSkeebiesMy question is will there also be a 7/11 at the mouth of LCCs new gondola??
PeppermillRenoHopefully the demolish all the stupid houses and put in a huge development with a shopping mall, hotels, waterpark etc.
DeebieSkeebiesAlso another big question: Can we drink beers on this-said gondola???
HiHowAreYouThis actually is a really valid question. It's not the 5 min aerial tram. It's a 45 min ride. I'll be drinking regardless, but still.
DeebieSkeebiesWe should do gunnies on the top deck of the new trams at Snowbird and also LCC gondy to break them in.

arnie_grapeany gondola brother, it's written in the z98
"any passenger onboard an enclosed or open circulating passenger ropeway located in or near a ski/snowboard access area is permitted to engage in any of the three (3) S's of the snow resort industry (at any given time); including but not limited to; sliding; substance; sex"

DeebieSkeebiesThis could be good for Utah. Snowbird partners with 7/11 as an official sponsor....Damn.
Edit: I will fucking find anyone from marketing who steals my idea so mark my words.

DeebieSkeebiesI'm glad they're able to find $550 million to build this thing but for whatever reason can't afford to pay their bus drivers or resort workers. Classic Utah.
HiHowAreYouIt's literally just that. They claim "labor shortage", but it's really them not wanting to pay the drivers more.
programmed_robotlabor shortage or worker shortage really means wage shortage. people will work the job but its gotta be worthwhile. living in SLC is expensive and making $21/hr to drive on canyon roads aint it for a lot of people.
DeebieSkeebiesThis is not only how this entire state is ran but this goes for ski towns as well. Mormon Mafia shit...
