Bibs for the backcountry

Heyo, I’m in the market for some new bibs. I’m mostly looking at the Flylow baker, Trew Capow, and Trew Trewth, does anyone have any experience with these? I primarily tour and am heading the direction of larger backcountry/mountaineering objectives but I also will be using these for resort skiing when I find myself in the resort. I’m in the PNW so snows pretty wet up here. I’m 5’10”, 170 lbs, waist width of 33. Ive heard various things about all 3 of these pants saying that they fit weird so I’m also not sure if i should go with an M or an L, but leaning more towards L. Any help is appreciated

Flylow is making a more "breathable" version of the Baker bib this year called the Baker Perm.

I ride in the Flylow Smythe bib, their touring pant. They are really nice and save you 2-300 grams over the baker. If you are doing mostly BC I would recommend them over the baker. Ive put maybe 40 days resort on them and they have held up surprisingly well as well, but they wont be as beefy as the Baker.

I'm 511 150ish and wear a M. If you were curious how they fit lmk. Definitely a freeride fit over a freestyle fit.

Can't speak to their bibs but I love my Trew jacket. Their communication was fast and good and warranty issue was dealt with promptly and effectively. Fit is good and it's got all the features you want.

Cant speak to their bibs either but I’m a fan of my trew pants. They hold up well to the pnw rain/snow and so far have been pretty durable around the cuffs. I did manage to tear a hole in them falling on a rail, but it also cut through my shorts and underwear so I wouldn’t really blame the pants. I do like that theyre Oregon based too

Also Im 5’7” and wear a large. I like my pants a little baggier but I don’t feel like they are super baggy

How’s the waterproofing? My baker bibs started to wet through after only 2 seasons

My baker bibs are bomber, but they are overkill for touring. They are a nice hybrid but if you are leaning to BC more, I wouldn’t go with them. I have older trew bibs and have had some of their other gear. I’ve been impressed.

I know that your not looking at them but personally I would recommend Volcom. I ride their roan bib which has 15k water but they have gortex models if thats your thing. I’m 5,9 140 and rock a size M. Don’t know if this was helpful to you just giving you some more options.

I'm not in PNW but I love the Trew Capow bibs. Im more or less 60/40 resort/backcountry, but they strike a nice balance of being light, durable, waterproof, and stylish.

I've spent two seasons touring in the PNW in the Trew Chariot bibs and they've been real good to me. I've had no issues with rain or wet snow soaking them, but they do get pretty warm at times with how high the bib comes up - if you run hot you may struggle with that. Love the pockets, love the inside leg vents for touring (I was forever getting snow inside when I had outside vents), and really love the drop seat for pee breaks (probably not a feature on the men's bibs but an essential for women's ones in my book).

You primarily tour and you want bibs? For touring I go pants every time, easier to breath, easier to regulate temperature, and lighter.

I'm in the PNW as well and still go with something more breathable instead of more waterproof. Out of what you listed I'd definitely go Capow, its breathable and backcountry focused
