Honestly dude? Just be yourself. I know that sounds wild but be your self naturally when it comes to the typical job interview questions. You Want to be memorable AND qualified.

Practice practice practice. I interviewed two candidates today and they both were completely unprepared. Come up with 5-7 stories of accomplishment based on things that you remember in your career that made you feel most proud. Get very specific. Use the STAR method for structure: Situation Task Action Result.

Entirely depends on what youre applying for... I'm assuming it's being conducted in English? Is it for a ski instructor job or something? whats going on?

In any case... just like on any interview, speak professionally and explain your experience concisely and confidently. Nozawa is well known for hiring a lot of foreign english speaking workers, so chances are the interview will be pretty western-themed and casual, rather than the ridgid and rigorous formal process of trying to work for one of the big Zaibatsu firms like Mitsubishi or Sumitomo or Mitsui or whatever...



...also if you need any info on other places to apply in Japan, let me know. Nozawa is cool, but there's about to be a million jobs opening up this winter if they are going to freely open to tourists like it seems they will.

If they open the floodgates, we are all about to get fucking schmeared with customers and there may not be enough staff to fill the void!

About to finish my last year of school, so have applied for a bunch of places to work in Hakuba and Nozawa (mainly hospitality and lodge work type gigs) for the first half of my gap year.

Being an Australian, there’s heaps of us over there, and I’ve skied in Hakuba twice. So working in Japan seemed like the straightforward option.

Spent around 2 months here already. Shits crazy. We’ve had 3 deaths in the resort, i got nonced up by a pedo, fell victim to gaijin killers (chuhai) and managed to break my boots. Definitely a different person than who I was going into this. Freshly 18, but living by myself in a foreign country making me feel a lot more mature

The experience of living abroad! Gotta keep your wits about you more than average local but often a memorable experience. I’ve heard both good and bad from foreigners working there. Regardless, the consensus is that the skiing is all time.

I’ll probably regret this but if anyone is serious I’ve interviewed like probably 20 people in the last year in a panel setting for entry level positions and higher. I’ve seen a lot of good and bad, HMU if you need help I’ll get your game on track, not your wig pushed back.

Yeah if you’re white their gonna call you ‘Baka gaijin” and laugh (their equivalent to the n word reserved for everyone that doesn’t look like them) so I’d suggest trying somewhere else

Another update.

Was skiing today, and had a stack on the landing of a jump. Ski got caught in snow, and twisted my knee. Heard and felt a pop. Took a few moments to collect myself and skied down to the bottom of the mountain. Checked out the situation and it was proper swollen. Headed to medical centre, and it’s confirmed ligament damage, potentially an ACL. Not a great way to end the last day I have skiing before heading back to Australia.
