Touring on Kartel/Jeffery

Trying to get into the bc a bit and exploring my options. I think I would love how my k108s go down hill as they are fairly forgiving but still burly and ski a variety of conditions but am worried about weight on the up. Anyone tour on these or am I making crazy talk?

Just think of it as better exercise. I’d rather tour on a heavier, more versatile ski, than buy a second or third ski that’s ultralight but I could snap in my hands. Mount em with CAST and rip one pair of skis everywhere

I was thinking CAST or Duke PT. Would still love to rip them at the resort but want to limit my costs of trying something new. Still need a beacon, skins, bindings, and a cert. If I can save some bones on skis I'll do it.

I ride 90% on the resort and will tour on my CAST on my Kartels or my Faction prod 4.0. I think the biggest thing would be who you're touring with. Nothing sucks more if everyone else is on lightweight bindings and skis and your slow behind. But if everyone is on the same page, or you have really good fitness it won't be a problem for the first couple years. Now I want a full touring set up just cause I understand what my goals are a little more in the backcountry and I think I want something to be able to really enjoy the Up.

I've got CAST on my K108. Heavy set up but if you've got the legs, you can still get it done. The long tails make kickturns awkward but I'm also just not great at them.

If you're only doing short tours at first weight doesn't really matter.

I was in a similar situation and had a pair of daymakers from a couple years ago and they worked fine to get me up and I loved having my Jeffery’s on the down. Although they are heavy and long tours are more fun when your gear is lighter in my opinion lol

I have CAST on my J116s and absolutely love them. Light touring skis suck if you also want to ski inbounds in all conditions.

My touring setup is jeffery 108s, pivot 15s, and daymakers. I think that's about as heavy as you can get and it works totally fine. I've done some pretty big days on them two. Planning on getting a better setup eventually but for now my philosophy is that I won't know how heavy it is until I try something lighter.
