Powder Ski Advice

Hi All - I’m searching for a powder ski to use at Western resorts and BC cat skiing. I’m 6’4”, ~240 lbs, with an athletic frame. Looking for 115mm+ waist and ~190cm and will primarily use the skis for powder days, but would ideally like to a ski that has some (limited) groomer capabilities. I typically gravitate toward twin tip freestyle skis (currently have Armada ARV 106 and Faction Candide 3.0) but am open to going a different direction. I’ve been looking at the Atomic Bent Chentler 120 and K2 Reckoner 122 but am a bit concern they aren’t a match for me (too light). Started looking at the Rossi Blackops Gamer as well and wanted to see if anyone had any advice/experience with any of these skis.

Love my Reckoner 122s. They are definitely a powder ski, and light. I find that they do get knocked around a little bit after the snow is cut up, but for pure powder they're hard to beat. Not particularly inspiring on groomers, but not a handful either. Super fun in the late spring slush. You may want to check out the Jeffrey 118s too for something a little chargier and more supportive of someone your size in the chop. But for pure unmolested pow, the Reckoners are a great option. Plus Brad killed it on the graphics.

Salomon Blank 112s are a solid ski for pow and can rip the resort as well. Still has a freestyle feel but not a full twin tip.

Armada Whitewalkers could be a option as well. They're light but super stiff underfoot. 192cms and you'd be crusin

Armada Magic Js are very sick & worth checking out as well. They can def be a bit pricey, but worth it.

My roommate picked up a pair this season and it's become his daily driver. They're just playful enough and super floaty. Nice beefy ski, but super easy to manuaver with the contact point so close in.

Very solid construction from what I can tell working on them extensively (mount, tune, wax, minor repair from extensive park abbuse).

Bent Chetlers will almost certainly be too soft for you (I'm only 165lb and I feel like they're borderline too soft for me.) The TGR forum crew loves them some stiff pow skis, and some of the constants I see over there are Volkl Revolts, ON3P Billy Goats, and Moment Wildcats. I love my Moment Chipotle Bananas, which could easily handle a rider your size, but as a stiff/full rocker/huge turning radius ski they're very niche - not to mention tough to find in the first place.

Thanks all - appreciate the help/insight! The Volkl Revolt 121s might be the ski for me. I stumbled across a demo version of the 2022 (link below). Apparently they've never touched snow but have been mounted twice and come with demo bindings. I've never bought demos before - worth chancing it with these or steering clear and buying new?

Prices in Canadian dollars but cheaper than the demo ones for brand new. Could choose other 13 DIN bindings for even cheaper prices .

3 mounts at most is sort of a rule. Even unused those are almost "end of life".

Glad to see Corbett's is still kicking. I bought my first pair of twin tips from them in like 2001.

buying demos skis is usually a safe bet, especially powder skis. I don't think those are a great deal tho. I'd say those demo binders are worth ~$100 so you're getting the ski with 2 mounts for $570, eh

Thanks again for all the help everyone! Stumbled across a blemished pair of 21/22 Moment Wildcat (via Skiburger) and pulled the trigger. I've been eyeing a pair of ON3P/Moment for a few years now and am amped to finally get a pair.
