yungspliffyThe post is satire retard. Congrats on being from the meth capital of the world, how’s the tap water down there?
eheathI didn't even bring up park skiing and I will likely never use park skiing as a measure for a ski resort ever again. I understand that's important to alot of ppl on NS, but you're calling me out on something I didn't even talk about.
If you want to blindly judge a corporate resort owner on just park skiing then ya of course ikon is better but that doesn't mean the ikon pass doesnt ruin the experience at other resorts.
BigPurpleSkiSuitYeah, I'll shit on Vail any day of the week, I will also shit on Ikon for overcrowding resorts on powder days, but when it comes to which is better and which is worse, Vail is the clear worse choice. What has been promising this year is seeing Alta start to move away from Ikon.
Farmville420Do you even know who you are? Do you know what park skiing gave you, what website you moderate for? It’s crazy to me that the guy who made some of the best edits in the park scene is sitting at his desk trying to downplay the importance of them.
eheathJust because alterra has been more supportive of park skiing that doesn't just eliminate the shitty things they do like ruin ski resorts they don't even own...
I'm flattered but you're putting me on a pedestal, tons of people have done exactly what I've done. Ski -> make friends -> pick up camera -> make videos - > move on from skiing. I had tons of fun in the industry and met many good people, but with most things in life we get jaded and do something else.
cyphersthen leave dude. straight up if you’re this apathetic about freeskiing now then maybe it’s time to move on. i mean shit level 1 is in this thread telling you your opinion is wack, if you’re not gonna contribute other than being a forum janitor and writing love letters to broomfield then you should find a new hobby
eheathits their social media guy just fyi
this thread is just like every other thread about vail, I say one fucking thing and everyone shits on me. I didnt even say anything negative about park skiing, I simply said I dont use park skiing as a measure for a resort. this lead to my only point which was that just because alterrra supports park skiing doesnt just eliminate the things they do that negatively impacts the resorts they partner with.
Both alterra and vail have their pros and cons, what I said about it isnt gonna change anything, we all have to live with it and adapt. I get salty about alterra because they literally ruined one of my favorite utah resorts and there are countless posts on this website about how ikon passes have ruined other resorts (changing at some places this year thank god)
Tons of resorts make amazing parks, 20 years ago it was much different and its great to see the younger generations still loving park skiing.
I still ski all the time, i hit the small park once and awhile but I still love skiing, there is so much more to skiing than park skiing and I have moved on from skiing park because frankly im gonna get hurt if I try to do anything lol I will 100% film some park in the future but thats purely for my own enjoyment and it will never be a part of my professional life.
everyone gets jaded, especially in the summers, we'll all laugh about this in the winter.
cyphersyou get shit on in every vail thread because you always have to jump in and try to run damage control for them. like i’m convinced you have alerts set up for any thread containing “epic” or “vail” just so you can drop some excuse about how they’re not that bad because solitude is crowded now or whatever.
i agree the vail hate gets out of hand but they are unquestionably on a whole different level of corpo evil than ikon mountains, who actually make some effort to be more than disney world on snow. if VR could snap their fingers and make every bum on this site disappear from their resorts they would do it in a fucking instant. and that’s why your constant defense of them in every. single. thread. on this website gets old fast
eheathits their social media guy just fyi
little_boy_primeWhat has Alta done to start to move away from Ikon?
eheathI mean you're clearly a bit bias here, I don't defend Vail, I just speak facts and you/others don't like that, you want me to blindly shit on them cause they're Vail which I totally understand but I do not defend Vail.

Level1The fact that think I'm the "social media guy".... really just speaks even further to how out of touch you are man.
cypherslol bias? i was born and raised in vail dude. i worked for them and have firsthand experience with how they operate. alterra doesn’t even touch the scumbag shit they pull on locals and their own employees. since you’re about “facts” all the sudden there are some in this lovely article. note the differences in management, pay, cust service, etc etc.
https://www.seattletimes.com/life/outdoors/3-years-and-a-covid-blighted-ski-season-into-new-ownership-stevens-pass-and-crystal-mountain-chart-divergent-paths/?amp=1
this trend extends to every vail property. they are all owned/operated by VR. alterra owns a few mountains but for the most part they just offer a pass product in cooperation with existing ownership teams.
you’re in every thread defending their bullshit and it’s exhausting. don’t even try to pretend it’s not true, your reputation as their volunteer PR guy precedes you at this point.

eheathSorry if that is the incorrect title, id be the first to admit I'm not in touch, if it happens on NS I'll see it but I'm not scouring Instagram and watching everything online and meeting with people at events and connecting with industry members etc I mean I've been out of the ski industry since early 2020.
Don't worry tho, this is the last time I ever post about Vail, it ends up this way every time and it's clear to me that nobody actually cares about my actual opinion, they just want to create my opinion for me and turn me into some villain that loves Vail, which is so far from the truth. Peace.
eheathNah, Ikon legit ruined Solitude, once a fun mountain to ski at was immediately overrun by Ikon pass holders who are not just tourists, but actually cheap locals who never bought a pass before now ski every pow day cause its cool.
mystery3I love how someone is a "cheap local" for not spending $1200 on a ski pass. I don't have ikon anymore just a relatively affordable pass to a smallish local hill, but I sure as hell had ikon when squaw/palisades was my local because it was less than half the price of the old single resort passes and that makes the sport more affordable and available to more people which is a good thing overall imo.
leprechaunsissyThis website has become absurd
