Replying to What powder ski
Looking at getting a pair of light touring/pow skis to compensate for the fact that I haven’t skied powder since May and to replace my 175 bibbys that are too short and don’t have enough float. I’m 5’8/ 160 and a pretty directional skier in alaska that likes to spin and huck decent sized cliffs but sucks at skiing switch(especially in powder). Looking at getting either a pair of 184 armada whitewalkers or 185 bentchetlers both of which I’d probably mount a few cm behind the line. Will be mounted up with shifts and used for probably about 40% inbounds powder days, 30% backcountry pillow/tree skiing when the avy danger is high, 30% big lines in the backcountry and a few 15-30 miles hut trips thrown in. Hoping to find something that’s as light as possible, playful enough for messing around in the trees, resonably stable enough for chop and sketchy sluffed out runouts and floaty enough that I won’t have to worry about going otb on the deepest days, so let me know if you have any other ski suggestions, I’m curious how the bentchetlers and the whitewalker stack up in terms of float and stability
