weastcoatSkills
junior1derfuldid you use a zip cut to cut the steel and wire wheel to clean it up?
SteezMaster68Just a high school kid with a welder 🤙
weastcoatSkill I’ve always wanted to learn. Do you take trade / tech school classes for welding?
SteezMaster68Nope, all self taught. Just bought a welder one day and figured it out. I also do lots of other mechanical work building go kart things and I also make custom go kart race engines. Learned everything myself through the internet and trial and error. Nothing stopping you from learning a trade, just get out there and do it
ajbskii would get some tremclad rust pain on it before it gets pitted up again. the first couple of hits will be sticky. also ive recently learned cooking oil in spray can works great as a rail lubes. who woulda known
weastcoatThat’s super sick dude definitely would be interested in picking it up. Seems like a good skill to have.
RparrVery nice work
it would be really fun to be able to weld my own rails but I think I'd be dead by now if I could
Would have definitely constructed some absolute death trap that I wouldn't be able to restrain myself from hitting

AlexHallsEyebrowWhat type of metal and what type of welding did you do? I’ve had these aluminum pipes that would be perfect but I think aluminum is too soft of a metal to ski on
SteezMaster68It’s just plain steel I welded with mig. And ya I don’t think I would use aluminum if I were you - too soft. Skis have steel edges which is sharper then aluminum so you’ll catch an edge

ReturnToMonkeyI mean any material can be sharper than another. Steel will hold it's shape and deform alum, which is why you can catch on it. But with very rounded edges, it's no big deal unless the alum is very thin and dents simply by landing on it. Aluminum is sketch but if you learn to ski it smoothly, I bet you'd become a wicked good rail skier
AlexHallsEyebrowOh yeah word. I’m taking a welding class next year, hopefully I can find some steel and be able to do something similar to you!
skiermanDamn, if only you could actually hit rails.
SteezMaster68fuck you skierman
