Bad Ass Skiers Still Exist

Its true that the life of a professional ski career is 1 year. Skiing is an unstainable career, as the costs of training and traveling outweigh the contests scene ability to provide cash to more than 5 skiers.

With that conclusion, its clear that skiers that make a career themselves, make their own edits, pay for their season passes, tour to summits, work full time jobs, create their own businesses, are the true passionate, professional, best skiers in the world.

you were able to name two skiers, i said five per year....i guess i overestimated.
henrik comes from old euro money, possibly richer than jon olsson family.
wallnuts has a public representative that lands his sponsors, he is part of the darkside cult that floated his career of "trained" freestyle. he denounced true freestylers over his decade of switchups that kids do in their first seasons nowadays.

jay levinthal, not a personal favorite, but a badass of an industry that destroys rather than supports. Jay invernted this game we know as skiing, yeah it started on blades, but he made skis and the history wasnt a walk in the park. K2 sports eventually hijacked LINE skis and the control of the business from jay. instead of laying down and dieing, jay invested his life into this passion, and isnt making millions by producing j-skis.
jay, you might have deserved trench warfare life for your business decisions, but at least you fought the fight.

It’s actually pretty incredible how many amazing skiers are out there.

as I’ve spent time in various mountain towns there are so many people out there RIPPING.

A wide variety of backgrounds, careers, disciplines, and lifestyles.

Inspiring tbh

from ppl working in the trades, bartenders, outdoor industry types, resort employees, to entrepreneurs, bankers and lawyers and doctors. If you ask any of em it’s all for the love of the shred. Work is just work, but life happens on the hill.

park rats, FWT vets, former racers, powder hounds and skimo bros it’s super fun to ride with and learn from all different styles.

idk about all that w pros salaries etc. but I agree, as much as we are all inspired by the best of the best, I think all the non-pros & unpaid riders just out here getting it any day any time any hill in the world are truly the soul of the sport 🙌🏼

Just because they arent making the big bucks doesnt mean they arent badass amazing skiers. The reason why skiing isnt a high paying sport is because there arent enough people into it.

So ya, skiing isnt the best career choice financially, and I personally wouldn’t choose it as a career, but its still sick af that theres dudes into comp skiing. If you want skiing to progress into a money making sport you need more comp riders because they bring in the most attention. Fuck off with the “theres no amazing skiers anymore”, theres plenty. You should be thankful theres people that ski in the first place, who cares that it isnt popular enough to bring in big money.

Comp riders are necessary and they fulfill they’re own part of skiing. The video edit/movie kids do their thing and they don’t make any money but thats hardcore af and we need them too. Everybody plays their role and skiing is in a good place rn because theres a good balance of everything. For a small sport with no real money flowing in, theres so many die hard weekend warrior and sick skiers, I think its amazing. Idk what the fuck ur talking about

through the years, lots of kids got one year of "pro" only to realize its unsustainable, and not worth injury, or won an event and that was it. the spongs... in the mid 2000's were amazing skiers, everyone at rage films, stept films made it a couple of years, the kids that film with level 1 make it a couple of years... aspen spora dropped before competing, really, so may names in dew tour x games for one year, i just cant remember them....
