Season out west

Hey guys, thinking of spending a season out in bc this winter, just kinda trying to find out the best happy medium in terms of cost of living/lifestyle. had whistler in mind because they offer staff housing but and again i got no idea how that works nor how expensive it is. any recs?

depends whether you care about a nice park or not. Whistler and banff have the longest seasons and the nicest parks with lots of nice terrain and good snow mid winter. revelstoke, fernie, nelson have arguably better terrain and better snow for a shorter period of time depending on the season and they're all quieter towns.

I like banff cause you have 5-6 hills within a 1-2hr drive and within a 6 hour drive you have almost a dozen

Depends on your goals, as others have said. Red Mountain (Rossland/Trail) and Fernie are worth looking at. If you want great parks, Whistler or Banff are the way to go. Slight advantage to living in Alberta- No PST, so everything is ~10% cheaper than in any other province.

Adding onto what these folks have said^

Sun peaks has a sick park top to bottom. And I think they have a night time rope row for the smaller park as well!

Dry interior snow. Not as dramatic visually compared to somewhere like Whistler, but definitely some good skiing outside the park too.

Don't know cost of living but these two ski towns are my favorite in BC. Whitewater is still the coolest resort I've been to.

There's just something special about WW. Hard to find a spot in Nelson, but not impossible. Start looking now if you are set on somewhere interior BC.

I went for the first time this winter and I'd agree there is something special about whitewater and nelson. very cool town, very pretty, and probably the consistently steepest inbounds terrain around.

red seemed like a sick mtn too but they had poo snow when i went so I didn't really get to "ride it" but rossland is also a cool town

Spent a season at whitewater and one at red this year. WW definitely gets the better snow but as far as working at a resort I don’t think you could beat red. Managers there are super laid back and tons of great hidden terrain to ride on good snow days
