mobadisThat’s what these ignorant fools don’t understand. Just because the gun is scary looking and black doesn’t mean it’s dangerous. Jamarcus and Cleetus can’t hide an AR-15 in thier waistband but they sure as hell can a small 38 special or compact 9mm.
The only reason people are focused on le assault weapon meme is because lonely white kids use them to shoot up their peers at school. The media would rather you demonize that kid then the countless gang members and criminals in the inner cities boasting murder rates that would make Ciudad Juarez blush.
And they believe the government will not overstep and overstay with their powers. What a joke. The COVID panic should have showed everybody that.
The media is focused on mass shootings because they're not between street gangs having a shootout over territory, at night, in a parking lot, away from most of the public eye. They aren't situations where innocent fuckin children are being targeted just for existing by some loony fucker who legally acquired semi-automatic high-ROF rifles and an urge to go out in a blaze of glory.
Yeah, the local news will report on a few deaths in these instances, but street gangs mostly target each other, and go to illegal routes for their firearms - which should be eliminated as best as possible. Require gun shops to have overnight security so they don't get looted by criminals who then put these firearms in dangerous hands. Eliminate ghost guns, and ban untraceable 3D printed firearms. take away as many access points for criminals to get guns. We should absolutely do whatever we can to take away illegal and untraceable sources of firearms.
As for the government overstepping... Well, they didn't really overstep after previous firearms regulations or even bans... California, Illinois, and New York haven't tasked any agency with firearms confiscations despite regulations.. and the government didnt even overstep during covid... nobody was like... thrown in jail or anything simply over not wearing a mask indoors - they just were not allowed on flights or into indoor spaces that are also regulated by fire codes due to the mandates. If you think that was tyranny and oppression, then son you really are privileged and looking for something, anything to complain about. Especially now that things appear to be essentially maskless everywhere and the pandemic has been said to be essentially over even by your favourite guy ever - Fauci...
Chunder_KhatSure, that's great, but has nothing to do with what I said. Go ahead and ban "AR15's." I wouldn't be able to care any less if they were banned. My point was that a very small percentage of gun homicides are committed with "assault rifles." Go ahead and keep talking about those, instead of the much, much greater killer, which is handguns.
I'm not even calling for a ban on AR15s... I don't even think that's necessary... but extending the brady bill to all semi-automatics, including AR15's and reducing magazine sizes to 10 for any personal weapon would limit the likelihood of these being used irresponsibly. A bullet button or PMR AR15 has yet to be used in a mass shooting if I'm not mistaken. The problem isn't even AR15's themselves, but rather the sustained rate of fire they can put out, as well as the capacity of magazines they are able to utilize - of which all large-capacity magazines should definitely be regulated so they don't end up in the hands of guys like the dude in the Las Vegas shooting...
Handguns absolutely are the greater killer in firearms-related homicides 100% truth there... but mass shootings often are carried out with semi-automatic rifles. Have they be carried out with Glocks? Yes. Can high capacity pistols be used in a mass shooting just like an AR15? Sure they can... but all you're doing is forcing the argument that we should do more to regulate semi-automatic handguns - especially large capacity handguns like the Glocks that were used in Vtech, or PMR 30s. which can deliver 30 rounds per magazine.
