Should I do Momentum camps?

this summer I really want to ski and learn new things for next season. I'm going to hood (idk when) but I was also looking in to the momentum camps up in whistler. does anyone have experience at momentum or know if its worth? To me it sounds pretty amazing to ski on a glacier with the pros but I want to hear from you guys.

It's probably the funnest thing you can do as a kid obsessed with skiing. I was fortunate enough to go several times as a kid and those camps stand out as some of the best experiences of my childhood. I'm dying to go back for an adult camp haha

Out of curiosity, at the Momentum camps do they allow you to use those water ramps in town in the afternoons? I'm guessing yes but have never looked into it myself. I've just been to Whistler late season and seen them on the way up lifts. But if Franklin is looking to learn big air tricks knowing the water ramps are in play would be of great benefit and may swing him that way over Hood....

I hear ya, 3500 CAD for 8 days.... ouch. I can do 7 weeks for that in France....

I mean in the US most good summer camps cost around 2k-5k.

Yeah I'm sure they do. You get some pro skier coaching in there and there needs to be payment for their time, lift pass, accomm and activities. Having just had a look at the momentum camps stuff they do get you on the water ramps in the PM times off snow. And it looks like they certainly in the past had one of the extra large airbag landing hill style ones for proper practice on an angled airbag landing.

I mean a hall and coby stevensone is gonna be there too. You don't get such skiers in most camps.

Usually yes after you get down from the glacier it's an afternoon activity

Didn't see anything about that on their website, just the long list of pro coaches. Might be best to email them if there's a particular coach you'd like to get. But I'm guessing that they'll make an assessment of level of skiing and put you in groups based on that as well, so you could end up not getting a particular coach anyway. Best to just think that you're getting a good quality coach who knows their onions no matter what looking at the list of names on there. Not to mention any one of them could get an injury or illness and be ruled out of coaching the week you're there.

Usually you get assigned to a group, then get a different coach or two per day :). I'm attending session 1; will be my 3rd time; I'm so happy to be going again after lockdown :)

So let’s say I want to do the camp with some friends. We are basically the same skill level so would that mean that we could be in the same group? Or can you request to be in a group with a friend?

I would think that would be reasonable, provided they don't just have x spots available and cutoff the list at the exact number and if you're last in maybe you get the last spot and none of yer mates can go... earlier you get in, the more chance you'd be able to get all of you there.

I spent a week at High North ( it’s a camp that’s gone now for you youngin’s) many years ago, summer 2000. And it’s still to this day, a high lite of my ski life. If you can swing it, do it!

went to camp a couple years ago, great time, met lots of new friends from all over scandinavia. got a pretty bad injury the second last day which made it even more memorable

It was an unaccomplished goals as a kid, but I had no money to invest in a camp. Knowing a few kids that went; they stepped up their game quite a bit the next season. If your good, its time to shine and get noticed.

I didnt get to do it and I dont think I would be any different if I did. Enjoy the opportunity and get as much footage as you can to relive that moment forever
