would really wanna spend the time in between my semesters next winter skiing killington, I live in central NY and I only got tiny mountains and Greek peak around me. Was wondering if anybody has done this and has tips on the best way to approach it, gotta start thinkin about it now and honestly don’t even know where to start. I have been makin a few trips a winter for the past couple years and it’s always bomb, would love to be able to find a place for a month and a half or so, work as a lifty and honestly just ski bum it. Any help is super appreciated

Don’t live directly in killington, they have bad water. You could try Mendon which is only 10 minutes from the mountain. Then there’s always Rutland, but try Mendon first lol.

As mentioned, mendon/chittenden, Rutland town. Rutland City can get a little sketch in most areas. Maybe get a job up at the mountain. Killington seems to really treat their employees pretty well. Sugar and Spice is on route 4, could buss tables. Mountain Top Inn in Chittenden is always looking for workers. Oh and there is a Walmart right downtown if you get desperate and can ignore the fact that there is a shooting every month down there. Woodstock is on the other side and a little further too. Best bet is work at the mountain or dirty rut

I go to castleton and live in fair haven its about 45 minutes from killi so it's a bit far, rutland gets shit on but honestly it's not that bad. Yes some areas are sketchy but as long as you do your research the bad areas can be avoided. Rents cheaper in rutland too and it has everything you'll need and want. I'm pretty sure they have housing for the international workers so there must be short term seasonal housing, you can probably call the HR department and talk to them about options if you are planning on working there.

I instruct at the mountain and the crew is super friendly and management is great, mendon is the spot to be, but certain spots in eastern rutland can also be good.

Since it’s such a short time period I would
say try and work for the resort as holiday help and work on housing from there.
If they don’t have short term employee housing then somebody in your department could probably help you find a short term sublease w a friend or something

You might be able to get better information if you ask one of the mods to move this thread to ski gabber
