What is up with apres

I feel like if you go to a bar during the day you're basically wasting precious time that could be spent skiing. I understand going in the night. So I ask you is apres just for rich french people who are ass at skiing or do I sound stupid. personally I am 14 and to young to do that shit and my ski resort barely has a town and has no night life whatsoever.

It's for the rich to show off their new puffy coat and ski boots after 3 hours of skiing blues, or for parents that are taking out a second mortgage to feed their family of 5 a lunch of chicken strips and french fries.

Op is absolutely under legal drinking age, apres is 24:7 if you do it right. Just give it 7 years you’ll come around

Yeah i feel you. I used to never stop when we'd ride. Maybe go to the lot and grab some food. But otherwise hot laps all day. Now i don't care as much. Sometimes it's nice to tske a break with the crew and grab a beer. Run into some other friends maybe.

If I'm feeling it and wanting to lap hard ill do it. If it's a pow day prolly going fast knocing off the zones i want to ride. But if it's chillin im chillin and ill have a beer.

Also my park game is fucking garbage at this point. The bars here ar the end of the day are mostly just locals. The one is a mix of everybody. The other is pretty much 90% employees from 4 ish to 630. We get drink deals so it isnt too spendy.

Idk. Dont worry about drinking though. Get your hot laps in. When you're old and you suck at skiing then grab a beer or two with the squad.

That sounds like 14 year old logic. Its not an insult this time; but an ode to being young and kinda clueless about adult routines.
Beers arent just for football games and frat parties, they are great for after sport socials. Didnt get enough time to tell stories on the chairlift? Do it around a beer when the lift stops turning.

Now there is always a large amount of people who do 3 laps, wait until 11am, then drink to 5pm. If they arent local, they drive back into town.

I cant drink and ski. My metabolism grinds to a halt, I get super shaky and feel nausia after a beer and try to go back to skiing. So after last run, we can gather, have a beer and chat about the day

I REAAAALY like to have some drinks when I ski once and a while, but have plenty of heavy boozer friends who rip hard and don’t do drink on the hill because it makes them feel like shit

Let them waste it if they want. Shorter lines for the rest of us.

Apres is a French word but it has become part of all ski culture (like piste). Skiing is a rich people / luxury sport. Not all French people are rich.

Being 14, there's a lot of things that won't make sense.

I usually hit aprés after the mountain closes up. The purpose of aprés isn't necessarily to flex or if you are a shitty skier. For me, it is a great way to meet some interesting people and talk about the day. Some of my fondest memories with friends are in a local bar in a ski town, talking about the days tricks and slams. It's easy to connect with people over a beer. That being said, it never hurts to pregame a bit on the lift.
