In my opinion it just depends on whether it’s worth it to you to spend the money that way. I would be really cautious limping into a high mileage version of a car you maybe can’t actually afford. You know what I mean like don’t buy the shittiest raptor out there just because you want a raptor it’s not like Ford has a stellar rep for being reliable

I honestly had no idea there was an xtrerra market but go for it if you want. Maintenance, gas, and tires will cost a bit more I'm sure so keep that in mind when tryin to ball out. People beat raptors up.

Do you need to borrow money to buy it?

Not sure which engine is in that model raptor, whether it’s 5.4 6.2 or ecoboost, do not buy a 5.4, high mileage ecoboosts aren’t great, but I’ve heard good things about 6.2s lasting as long as they’re not beat

i think if you've got a good reliable car then stick with it. xterras are cool too

Both the raptor and xterra are terribly thirsty but the xterra must hold an edge there.

Do you need a pickup?

I'm a big fan of sticking with the car you have unless there is something mahor wrong with it. You roll the dice buying high mileage used cars. Sometimes they're great, sometimes you bought someone elses problems. If your xterra has been a stud and seems like it will continue to do so, why take a risk?

Your good Xterra is a much better ski vehicle than those other two and you can make it just as/more fun for less money

My advice would be to keep your Nissan. You got a good ride now(that you own) that is reliable and still has low miles on it. Keep banking money and just keep making your ride better when it comes time. Unless you really need a pickup, stick with your ride. Just my 2 cents.

Personally, I wouldn't go the raptor route. People romp on those things and with that high mileage range just to fit your budget, you're setting yourself up to spend a lot more money than you need to if something catastrophic goes wrong.

If I were you, I'd keep the money in the bank or maybe spend some working on the xterra.

Check out Z1 Offroad if for some xterra performance stuff. There's actually quite a few bolt on type parts that could really wake that thing up. Exhaust, intake, coil packs, and a proper tune would net a considerable power increase for the price. You can also do stuff like Titan suspension conversions, air locker, skidplates, etc to get yourself a more capable rig but that's dependent on if you want a big project at that point.

Stick with the Xterra. Those things are sweet. If you stay on top of maintenance (which it sounds like you are) you can get a ton of miles out of them. I vote you keep saving and drive the rig you have. In a few years, you'll be able to afford something cool with fewer reliability questions than a high-mileage offroad Ford pickup.
