Replying to Perks of longer skis?

got a pair of ARV 86's last season that are a bit short for my size, on purpose. i sort of prefer shorter skis because i feel like i have more control over them, as there is less length and weight to maneuver. however i saw a ton of guys in the park rocking really long vishnus and other brands alike. is there any reason i should think of getting a longer pair of skis? or should i just stick to what is already comfortable for me.
