Canis_lupusAsking for someones experience. Other than the drive is staying in government camp better in any way than mt hood village or is it relatively the same. Goin in May so I'm curious which place is the move to stay at.
theabortionatorCamp in govy if you're doing car things. Mt hood village is just adding stress to your ride.
Extra daily vert is rough
Canis_lupusWe campin by gov camp already the first few nights but looking for an air bnb the next few nights
QuaggyGovernment camp is the closest town to Mt. Hood... it's on Mt. Hood with Timberline road at the "top end" of town and ski bowl at the "bottom end". In the "middle" of Government Camp you'll find a general store, ski shop, bars, and food.
It's more expensive to stay in Government Camp, but you're about 20-25 minutes closer to the Timberline lodge (15 minutes to Timberline, 20 to Meadows), check out Google Street view and scope out both locations before you go!
hank.skiAre you camping or just staying in a hotel? If you're car camping, spots around govy like Timothy lake, or old T line road are pretty sick, but they usually fill up quick. Hood Village/Welches/Zig Zag/Rhododendron all have more camping available (and better weather), but yeah an extra 15-30 minutes of drive time. If you're paying for accomodations, I would see if there are any spots in welches, they'll probably run a lot cheaper than Govy.
Canis_lupusJust camping one night. Other than that we’re staying in an air bnb the rest of the trip

Abomber22Still... must be deep pow,no?
hank.skiIf it's melted out, old Timberline Road is the best imo. Just the Closest spot
TreeJamIs it called E west leg road also?
