I picked up some atomic hawx ultra 110's recently and I have to say I am disappointed in them. Commonly when popping liners in and out, and even when putting the boot on and taking it off, the clog portion of the boot pops the inner over outer which is an annoyance. #2, these boots feel like butter. And not in the good way... Although I'm only 130lb, I can fold this boot over easily. These are way too soft for me to work with, and throwing the screw in the back for "+10 flex" seemingly makes no difference. Beware of these points if you are looking at this boot, as the flex is dangerously low and the boot popping is a frustration for sure. Really wanted to like them... but these don't seem like they're going to work out for me. I don't know if this hurts my wallet more or my expectations.
These may work for you if you are a very non-aggressive skier at slow speeds on low angle slopes, but if you want to ski with any aggression beware, I am at basically the lightest end of the skier spectrum and I bottom these out much too easily, they do not inspire confidence in me.

mine do this too and for some reason i cant figure out the liners sorta poke down on the top of my foot almost at the ankle and it is the most annoying thing
actually cut my foot landing hard in them

and yea they are pretty soft
Yes I know exactly what you are referring to, you have to pull the liner up a lot or the plastic at the bottom of the tongue jaggedly stabs into your foot. I think I am going to have to steer clear of atomic after this unfortunately and go for a different brand. Store rep I talked to said he believes it is a quality control issue or something with the brand/over-seeing brand that also owns salomon.

yea definitely same here, its a shame because they fit my feet perfectly other than that.
idk how they can sell boots that literally do that after like 2 days
Making sure the plastic folds the right way and getting the correct flex for your weight and riding style is 100% on you unless I'm missing something here. Not every 110 boot flexes the same.

this is just a forewarning post buddy. Maybe the only thing you missed is the point of it, as information for someone who might have their eye on this boot.

My whole point is none of this would be a problem if the boot was tried on at a boot fitter, like someone should do instead of buying boots based off perceived interest.

Flex seemed okay before testing it on the slope. On slope test is where it really just washed out. Disappointing. Perhaps the 120/130 line would be a bit more structurally rigid I hope. Not sure if that would also solve the liner pop problem or not.

the old 120/130 are still soft, and overlap poorly. you want the new version, find a sale somewhere.

I am a little hesitant of atomic now, but we shall see next season when I wander into a fully loaded boot shop what I will come out with... maybe an atomic, maybe a lange, only god knows...

Definitely not a full tilt though 😜
if you like the fit on the ultra, nothing else comes close. they designed the new model specifically for the issues you are describing. there are threads on NS and podcasts about it.

hey man, sorry to hear you're not super stoked on the boots. The feedback you gave is 100% reflected in the latest version of the boot - it's a new mold that addresses your experience with the first generation of Hawx Ultra.
As Scratchskier said, if anyone goes into a shop now and buys a new model year 21/22 Hawx Ultra, they don't get the one you have (which is from 20/21 or older).
Moving forward, getting the right flex has more to do than just your weight. You can be 130lbs but ski super hard and put a lot of forces in to a boot. Ultimately, the boot just knows the forces that are acting on it. This means your weight, your height, your strength and any forces you encounter while skiing like skiing at 60mph through chunder or hitting huge jumps or dropping cliffs. Your boot flex should reflect the forces you put into it.
Thanks for the reply man. Really nice to see company representatives on here that are passionate about all this. Been skiing them again today, and I do like them, but it’s just the couple issues that are making them troublesome. Takes some Finicking to get the tongue in the right position, but once I’m locked in they’re nice. I will look into this season or next seasons model at a boot shop next season, would be a killer boot with those issues resolved. Might look into a 120 as well and see what that’s like.

Can you link to a podcast where they talked about the update actually interested in listening to that

As others noted, the right flex makes all the difference. This season I moved to a 120 from a 130 and it made a world of difference. My foot feels one with the boot. It feels natural
