I’ve started to see some hate on the baggy pants trend, especially the $250 custom ones sewed by unknown skier kids. Stuff like Lids4domes, Lizard stuff, Harlaut Apparel and capeesh (last 2 are a little different).
While trends DO get played out, I think this is one of the best trends to hit skiing in years. Small, skier owned brands are exactly what we need, especially after skiing “failed” to sell out to bigger brands like nike and under armor.
It’s becoming more apparent that freeskiing will never invade the mainstream like skateboarding did, and knowing that these larger companies won’t give skiers the money they really need I think it’s a good idea for skiing to invest in itself.
Obviously stuff like helmets, boots and goggles can’t really be made by small scale operations but we have no excuse not supporting skier-owned business when it comes to certain outerwear items.
