Graham0596Sorry, but tell that to her Olympic gold medals. She’s more of a skier than you and I ever will be. Just cause you don’t like her don’t mean she ain’t a skier. I’m a shlub that happens to ski, she’s a damn Olympian…
eheath"happens to ski"
she's already better than 90% of the field in all disciplines, don't let your hate blind you.
Firstly, my point was that her money came from a mix of modelling and being an olympic/high caliber athlete, not because she’s a park skier.
The fact that she’s a freeskier is irrelevant to her career, in fact, she’d probably be more successful if she were such a high caliber athlete in a different sport.
The most valuable people to our sport are the ones who are deeply engrained into it. Henrik, Casabon, Wallisch, Tanner, all of those guys wouldn’t have the same levels of influence in other sports, even if they were still the best. We care about them because of things deeper than “they win all the medals”.
What I’m trying to say is that Eileen Gu won’t be the one hosting rail jams, invitationals, shooting movies, all the stuff I actually care about. Hell, I have my doubts on talented kids like Matej who I’m sure you guys would hate on if he wasn’t stylish.
What I’m trying to say is that it pisses me off when all the money in skiing goes to athletes that won’t re-invest it back into the sport just because they’re the most “talented”.
Tom is using his influence to run a rail jam that is LOSING money. Phil is spending his life savings on an animated project that probably won’t make him money either. Henrik and Tanner have both run invitationals on top of dropping several FREE movie projects that took time out of their contest careers.
TL/DR; Eileen makes bank because she an athlete not because she’s a skier. Don’t care how much better at skiing she is than me because she won’t invest that money back into the sport.
