Jemsthen explain to me some hyland kids win lots of the local bridger comps
ajbskiDisagree.
rails jumps and pipe teach you edge control, balance and directional awareness real quick.
that’s why I think park skiers have a easier time transitioning into alpine disciplines than big mountain skiers into park.
that being said, I think I’ve only been in the park a handful of times this year.
FruitBootPropark kids are obviously gonna progress at that stuff faster but if you took a midwest park rat and showed him some Colorado bumps, he would probably barely be able to ski it at first
also ngl idk how park teaches you edge control at all. you literally just have to ski in the direction of the feature and then do the trick.

asparagusah yes because spinning off rails and jumps then landing sideways and learning how to not catch an edge and die teaches no edge control
FruitBootPromost of the time they are using detuned skis, and learning to land parallel to the fall line isn't gonna teach you much about edge control anyways
