Vail tries to top down manage everything under the umbrella. It obviously doesn't work.

Alterra has it's issues now doubt (poor Seattle skiers), but at least understands each mountain is unique and needs it's own management structure for its employees and skiers in the region.

It'd be interesting to know the cash distribution model for each...
