Daylight Savings

Sounds like the US might make daylight savings time permanent within the next couple years. What kind of effect is this gonna have on ski areas? I would guess opening times would get pushed back for at least part of the year because late December / early January sunrises would be around 8:20 in the northern states. Places could definitely run lifts later too, not sure that they would.

I'd personally be happy because I'd rather it be light later than earlier. 8:20 sunrise does sound kind of rough though.

I was thinking this same thing, will areas open later and close later? An extra hour of skiing would be dope, but the first trackers (which i am not) are going to be pissed for sure

would be sick if some of the resorts that dont offer night skiing and snowboarding to stay open later, but I dont know yet

This might be an unpopular opinion and maybe its because I am coming at from a skiing mindset, but I think its a pretty horrible idea. I feel like people only think of it on the back end and talk about it being light later in the day. I think it will be worse to have people rushing to work at 8:00 AM in complete darkness. This would also mean the ski industry would have to make a pretty dramatic shift in operating hours, I feel like it could change to 9-4:30 or 9:5.

I’d rather drive to work in the dark instead of driving home in the dark. The sun sets around 3:30 pm where I live at the beginning of winter. Fuck that shit. Daylight savings all the way.
