Canon GL2 - Cheap Tapeless/ Tapes

I just got a Canon GL2(XL2), I was doing some research and the price of the MiniDV tapes are trough the roof. So I think the long term goal would be to make it tapeless. But this is also not cheap, does anyone know w cheap option/rig for going tapeless.

That's funny has hell.. I just scooped one up on ebay in immaculate condition in the box and everything for like $260. Showed up 2 days ago. I got it to capture all my old tapes I never got around to but I'll be doing some filming with it too I'm sure.

I got the ElGato video capture cable and it's been working flawlessly.

I've looked into a few ways to convert it but I don't think I will as of right now. I got a 10 pk of tapes on Amazon for $60 so if I do any filming I'll be set for a while at least.

just buy used tapes thats what my friend does he said you can record over them

There's cheap miniDV tapes on amazon. From there you can get an av cable to usb video capture and upload video thru OBS or VLC etcetc. Even easier is just using a firewire if you have a mac tho.

3-5 years ago I almost bought a gl2 off NS but the guy decided to hang onto it. Always been, still my dream to own one. Idk why. I suck now and idk what I'd even film but got I love those things.

personally I'm a big fan of the GL2. Considering the price I think its a great alternative to some similar and more expensive cameras.
