Young_pattyAh yes the IKEA Lack side table tm.
the most sold piece of furniture IKEA makes, the number of Lack’s that have been broken are innumerable, my buddy went through 3 or 4 in one apartment alone.
for anyone wondering- they’re so easy to break- easier to focus a Lack than a broken skateboard deck. They cost like $15-$30 depending on the time of the year. At that price even the most humble of skiers can afford to wreck one or two a season- for not even half the cost of a Vail lift ticket.
so the next time you’re staring at a lift ticket website wondering if $160 for a day of skiing is worth it just remember:
that’s like 4 Lack’s and a 30 rack of PBR- plus some pocket change. Maybe instead of waking up at 7:00 am to go shred you just wake up at noon and then get drunk and start wrecking IKEA brand Lack side tables.
Then, after about 16 beers and 2-3 tables you’ll finally be ready to head out the door and hit some street spots. Hopefully by now the sun has set and the whole world will be your oyster. Grab the rest of those beers and the final 1-2 Lack’s (remember to save at least one for a victory smash when you stomp a rail) and head out into the night- knowing that you’ve saved so much money skiing street rather than skiing the resort like those other chumps.
so to conclude my essay, Lack’s are not only one of the most sold pieces of furniture in the world but essential to not just the spirit of the modern day skier but the culture of street skiing itself. So remember, when buying your next ski pass pause and ask yourself: “how many Lack’s and 30 racks would this get me? Is the price of this pass worth it when I could be stacking clips and breaking composite wooden furniture in the street instead?”.
your move Vail.
