coronaPro tip for ski companies looking to use indigenous artwork on their skis: just hire an indigenous artist. Not that hard.

CaseyI hate this type of argument because it’s like now I have to list 274 things that the US did terribly wrong in settling North America and all the bad shit that happened but I’m too lazy. I understand the complexities of tribal life pre European contact I am not an expert but I took a couple of Native American history classes back in the day at WSU. I’m not a moron.
DeadBI'm pretty sure you still don't know as much as I do on the subject. My great great grandfather had many relations with native American women so I know some first hand account stories.on top of this I'm pretty much aceing social studies right now 96%. I got 100 percent on a sideshow I made about the Cherokee tribe.
CaseyThe reason no one asks for your opinion is because they don’t want to hear it or care about what you have to say. I was responding to someone that is not you it doesn’t matter what you think.
DeadBDid it go right over your head that I had nothing to add to the conversation and was only mocking you?

CaseyIt absolutely did. I’ll take my medicine on that one I was drunk AF
Biffbarf@bergobeanz thoughts?
FruitBootProok real shit:
by this logic, every Westerner who has made art inspired by Asian, Indian, or Middle Eastern culture (samurai, Hinduism, etc) is appropriating and should be cancelled.
and vice versa--every non-Western artist who has ever made anything inspired by Western culture (Medieval/Dark Ages, hippies, disco, hip-hop, etc etc) is appropriating and should be cancelled.
like cmon, it's not that deep y'all. there are more important things to be outraged about.
snowfindersoooo vishnu changing their name before the outrage comes?

FruitBootProThey addressed this in another thread--
Emmet named the brand Vishnu out of inspiration and respect.
Also, he has talked to many Hindus about it and none of them have considered the brand name Vishnu offensive, as it does not depict the god in a derogatory way.
hunternay_10Vishnu is also so niche that I doubt people who actually care would ever find it
FruitBootProand Folsom isn't?
hunternay_10They’re obviously much larger than Vishnu currently if they’re supplying skis to the xgames and able to put out 6 different “heritage” topsheets compared Vishnu only running out of stock by December every year. However, that might just be a testimony to Emmett’s product bc those shits bang
SessionYou don't have to be a big company to have a lot of graphic options.
hunternay_10My main point was more about them supplying to the x games
Farmville420The only one I could see being offensive is Hudson Bay blanket top sheet since those blankets (intentional or not) killed a bunch of people, so like yeah that’s kind of a weird thing to put on a ski. Like I guess it’s kinda like putting a truck driver that crashed and killed people on a top sheet. Did he intentionally kill a bunch of pedestrians? Idk but why is he on a top sheet people died at the hands of his actions. Just the way I see it
coronaI don't think there's any evidence those blankets were used as purposeful vectors of disease. I see zero issue with that design, other than maybe The Bay tries to sue them (they still sell the blanket).
arnie_grapereading this thread made me realize how lucky i am to not be as dumb as all of you water heads
hunternay_10And last time I checked, nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything. So again why can’t we just buy what we like and not buy what we don’t.
