eheathIt's not happening this year.
keagan.karstensany insight as to why?
armchair_skierMost of the production was in the corny ass TV show. Costs for the prize money is probably negligible because they were already paying out in pennies.
eheath20k for gold isn't pennies but alright haha
NeonGreenSharpieFor the time, efforts and money put in by skiers and filmers, it is pennies imo.
GrandThingsLJ got robbed in 2017
eheathTBH when i was around realski, it was more about the challenge of making a video, obviously the money is nice but you can't go into that kind of event expecting to win money, because anyone could win.
And that 2 months of time didn't stop anyone from making a film, most athletes only do it once and the only ones who do it more than once win something the first time. Plenty of people decline as well, the people who choose to do it know what they signed up for.
I think as a sport we should consider ourselves lucky that anyone wants to put up a 40k prize purse + 5k per team for expenses for making an urban video, nobody else has urban video contests, let alone one with 70k in cash backing it plus a huge platform like ESPN.
Skiing urban isn't really about making money, most of your favorite urban skiers work all summer to support their passion.

Christian_BaleIf they ever do a real ski on the future they better have a women's section. I think there's definitely enough interest for that now.
