Guys. I want to apologies for this terrible shit made by our president.

Trust me - ALL non-idiotic people, non-watching-TV people dont want that terrible conflict.
We all are hostages now here, nobody asked russian people do they understand what is going on and do they want a war conflict. Yes there were NAZI problems, nationalist problems, like in almost every coutry with lots of population and different opinions. I believe 90% of russian people didnt even try to make any history researches to find roots of the conflict.
It is wrong to a country to invade other smaller country, whether it was usa invading iraq or afganistan, or russia, or any other country.

Dont ignore russian skiers and snowboarders, we all only for love, peace and shred.

Putin is a fuckin dictator and some people don’t have a choice of living. The people are being arrested for even saying the word war, it’s called special operations there. Plus it’s impossible to leave. This is Putin’s war that is putting the Russian people at risk. Don’t blame the common citizen for a shitty government, sometimes they don’t have a choice.

Putin managed to kill journalists, political opponents and to jail people protesting in the streets. Putin's mindset formed within the soviet union secret service so just image how astute he is in knowing how to defend himself, get rid of any opposition, balancing interests of the oligarchs around him and changing the law so he can continue to rule. He doesn't give a fuck about common people.
So sayin that russian people are the reason why he has the power is just wrong.

just as decent people in russia do not want the war, decent people here do not blame the average russian

we know the government is the issue and we feel pity for many of the russian troops and the situation they've been put in. and we know the russian citizens speaking out and protesting have serious balls

The people of Russia are 100% complicit as they overwhelmingly have supported his leadership for the past 2 decades.

Russian elections in general have been tied to fraud since the early 2000s. On top of that, citizens who speak out against Putin or show any type of resistance are arrested and thrown in prison. Seriously, do your research you sound very ignorant

I wish this was correct, but it's not. The majority of the population genuinely support him. There have been countless opinion polls done over the years that show this.

If you spend $200 in fucking Jackson Hole for a daily ticket this doesn't mean you support the pricing policy they adopt. You just wanna ski and you adapt.
Now imagine an average russian say born in the soviet union working as a bus driver for a living. At the end of the month he survives and he's ok with that. Does he think his life could be better? Definitely, but he learned how to adapt in a system where nothing can be changed.
Now you also said that Putin support is extremely high. Just look how higher is support for Kim Jong Un or Maduro who are ruling two countries where life conditions are way worse than Russia.

The majority of the reason Venezuela's living conditions are so poor is because of the crippling sanctions the US placed on it because they want to spark a coup against Maduro; it's a been a regular part of the American playbook to try fomenting dissent against a leader (democratically elected in Maduro's case, not so much with Putin) using the "humanitarian" option of not allowing basic supplies and generally immiserating people. The 1973 Chilean coup (the original 9/11, if you will) is probably the most successful example - Nixon's instructions to "make [their] economy scream" really unveil the violence. Anyway, sanctions are ultimately no less harmful to civilian populations than an outright ground war.

I'm not here to pose any solutions, just to add some nuance that NS typically lacks.

Lol imagine if the east placed sanctions on the US for invading the middle east and all of us suffered and then you go on the internet and a bunch of chinese people were like "Well 3/4 of you support George Bush, you did this to yourself". Like even if Putin didn't rig every election and throw people who speak out against him in prison, that still doesn't justify blaming Russians for a war that only the leader of the country is allowed to wage.

Like yes, Putin should feel backlash and sanctions make sense but you can want to both economically collapse a country and show remorse to the innocent individuals who feel the backlash. Going on here and being like "Fuck you, you did this" is dumb, instead you could just be like "Your leader is a fool, blame him". Just the attitude that bugs tf out of me.

Most of them were very well supported by the people. If they weren't they didn't last long (with very few exceptions). Read up, Putin enjoys the support of about 3/4 of the population.

Mussolini is a pretty shit example.. he was extremely well supported in Italy before the war.

Neither are at all comparable with the Ukraine. Ukraine, while corrupt, has been fairly democratic and forward thinking for getting on close to a decade now. They didn't attack Russia or support terrorism in Russia, their crime was becoming too 'western'. Not at all comparable to Afghanistan which supported a blatant attack on the west for which there had to be repercussion. Iraq is more comparable.

I think we have to make hypotheticals here for a better comparison: if the US outright invaded Mexico because they were getting too chummy with China, that would be a better comparison. And in that case, yes. I would fully support sanction on the US.

where do you take these 3/4 from ? according to wikipedia in the latest opinion poll for elections from 2021 putin's party gets just below 50% of the votes which is realistically even lower cause people are scared to speak out against putin publicly
