Any ski towns in NA like Summit County CO?

Looking to change it up and get out of summit county. After looking for jobs everywhere I’m finding there’s not much that gives you 20-30 min drive to a basin and keystone, 30 - an hour for Breck and Copper, and like 2 hours of even more.

Big reservoir in town for summer

SLC is the main one. Jackson area prolly doesn’t have many jobs but they have Jackson hole and targhee. Bozeman isn’t a bad town either.

jackson area is crazy expensive for the avg guy let alone a ski bum type

McCall, Idaho or Sandpoint are two of top of my head. Summit county is cool but after living other places, Colorado is incredibly blown out. Hell, even the western slope is less blown out than the front range

If you want to find something like summit county, go to summit county. Honestly i hate summit. There's enough to do but it pretty much west denver.

Plenty of other places are also blown out but. SLC seems more chill but probably has more job options than summit.

Yep, impossible to get anything done on weekends at all times of the season. Days off are a Saturday? Sorry. You’re spending hours in traffic.


the town shuts down on the dot Friday night - Sunday afternoon

I hate the current state of summit county but for it being the first place I moved to our west to ski it’s still pretty bomb.

the only reason I like this place is the skiing, however I’m ready to move somewhere else with similar skiing as summit.

What job/jobs are you looking at. If they're specific that can make a huge difference or just trying to find a mtn town with some various jobs?

A lot of mtn towns are blown out or headong that way but summit is one of the worst, so you can def find something more chill. There's good skiing in tahoe, slc, all over. I live in co for a few years. It's good but i don't buy any hype that it's really superior. Same with utah. Every place has its perks. Depends what you're looking for.

Yeah I don’t see any reason to pick Colorado over others. Cool state but travel and people will see there’s other beautiful places too. I wish Colorado had more of the trees and greenery of the western ranges. I miss the Tahoe forests. *The grand mesa is gorgeous though

Everything with good skiing in the Western USA is very crowded and expensive at this point.

I wouldn't be that desperate to leave SUmmit you don't have to drive from Denver and whatever super pass you have should give you plenty of options elsewhere to ski at.

I feel like Summit Co hills are becoming less likely to get swarmed with destination travelers.

But anyways yeah enjoy the crowds and diminishing snowpack 'out west' I am done with all those resorts had plenty of good times but this year its New England day/1 night trips and then Switzerland and Alaska. FUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKK going somewhere like Jackson or PC right up the ass.

Bunch of management experience in boat rentals and ski rentals, boot fitting etc. Mainly looking to get a management job or some shit on a lake in a mountain town for summer and transition into a shop in winter because I know those jobs well.

Right on. I have been looking for more greenery and stuff which is why I’d like to go Oregon/wa/Montana/Idaho.

I thought CO had to be the state.

AK is going back into full tourism mode so jobs will be easily found with housing.

Lutsen,MN. Small ski hill on Lake Superior that has been getting more and into biking and seas kayaking. If you want more town feel go north Grand Maria, MN. Awsome small tourism town on Lake Superior. If you want wilderness feel go down gunflint trail and your in Minnesotas 2 million acre forest, which a million is designated wilderness and accessible primarily by canoe. It’s so green you need sunglasses.

Copper harbor, MI. On Lake Superior, sea kayaking/ mountain biking paradise. Again green, water, small town feels.

Just remember where there is green there is Mosquitoes.

It sounds like you’re describing Tahoe as an ideal fit. Truckee is a rad town but affordability is going to be your biggest issue.

No worse than summit. Both are cooked. Tahoe is way nicer imo though.

Mtn towns are so fucked. I need to get more into skating where it doesnt matter as much. Living anywhere near even decent mtns is going to be almost impossible.

I guess they'res always the northeast and mid west. Ill lap some hills.

South Lake Tahoe brother. Truckee's cool too but less jobs/affordable housing

Steamboat… right? I mean if I were to move for skiing, SLC was always my first choice. Jackson is sick too but expensive with impossible housing, Bozeman maybe?
