I think its stupid to look at this entire conflict as a bad guy good guy, A or B type issue. I think you can say that US led NATO has been trying to push east for a long time despite agreements they wouldn't at the same time as Russia/Putin has been incredibly aggressive and imperialistic. It's easy to look back upon history and critique the decisions made.

Was NATO's eastern expansion post-USSR collapse foolish in hindsight? One could certainly make that argument. But for former eastern bloc countries and many European countries, given that no one knew what post-Soviet Russia would look like, the best course of action was security via NATO membership. Do not forget that Ukraine is the largest former Soviet country with a population of ~45 million. The next largest is less than 50% of that. Most of these countries would be overwhelmed within hours if Russia had decided to invade them.

If you want to blame the US for the Euromaidan Revolution then place equal blame on Russia. Russia had a VERY hands-on approach to the protestors (who had legitimate issues with the Yanukovych presidency).

The fact of the matter is however, Putin made this decision with the aim of two outcomes: either Ukraine becomes the next Belarus or ceases to exist.

Your premise is that both sides are potentially to blame for Russia invading Ukraine and that Russia is in some way owed something by Ukraine, which are literally Kremlin talking points. Is there a ton of propaganda and conflicting reports coming out of this conflict, of course! But that's why its important to step back and look at the big picture: It wasn't Ukraine massing hundreds of thousands of troops to invade Moscow, it was Putin claiming to keep the peace in a couple regions while actually invading an entire country and rejecting Ukraine's sovereignty. The war ends if Russia leaves Ukraine. Thats it.

I know one thing for sure - the only way to stop Russia was a capitulation before Putin even declared a war. That means no visa free entry to EU, no independent media, no free internet and a lot of other no’s that we couldn't accept.

Putin denies existence of Ukraine nation. The leaked propaganda article that was prepared for the second day of war (the plan was to get the full control of Ukraine by that day) shows his actual thoughts. We are minor Russians (not Ukrainians) they are Great Russians. And Ukrainian language is a dialect of Russian. But they can’t even understand more the half or ordinary conversation, while I can use Ukrainian to speak with Polish, Slovaks, Czechs and we will understand each other. And our languages are really different.
We have a long history of Russian oppression against Ukrainian people. Our capital is Kyiv. It’s quite symbolic and important city for russian history because of Kyivan Rus. And have you heard of Mother of Rus cities - it’s also Kyiv. So having this symbol city under control of different country, where Russian language isn’t main, where people don’t call themselves Russians puts a question on existence of Russians as a nation and their legacy.

I have given this some thought and at the end of the day assassinating Putin is the only out for Russia. The war is going to only get more and more brutal and the next phase for Russia will involve heavier artillery and air strikes which means much more civilian casualties. Even if they do some kind of negotiation to save face the sanctions wont end and Russia's economy is going to tank and people are going to starve once it collapses. If they assassinate Putin, Russia can pin the whole thing on him, end the war immediately, pay indemnities to Ukraine and since Russia handled it themselves it will alleviate the future sanctions.

So yeah, Putin has had an interesting run but assassinating previous regimes is kind of a tradition there anyway.

A Brazilian student, Marcio, posted a letter on Wednesday on the website of Indymedia, an independent media platform. He wrote that he had evidence that the images seen on the American news channel on September 11 were fake. The footage dates back to 1991 and shows celebrations of Palestinian youth after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. One of his lecturers had compared video recordings from that time and them with the current reports. Conclusion: Both pictures are identical. CNN is creating a mood against the Palestinians.

Just two days later, on Friday, Marcio rowed back. The information was only a presumption, the university teacher could not prove his suspicions. But by then it was already too late.
