teabagNo hate it just looks like shit and ruins the flow
KilaTsunamiI guess staying switch does flow better than a revert. I just seen mad hate on them recently n was like da fuck?
teabagTrue. If someone is doing reverts all the time I think someone should call them out on it cus they have to realize it doesn’t look good. It’s not like I never do reverts when I’m trying to learn something that requires going forward.
jompcockIdk if you call it a revert but imo skiing in foreword then hopping switch before the feature looks way cooler than dropping switch out the gate.

ReturnToMonkeyProblem with the revert isn't that it looks bad or is an indication of a bad landing or something. Simply put, the revert is bad karma. Over time, skiers found out that missed grabs, injuries, and backseat landings are all positively associated with reverting. Just as Isaac Newton discovered gravitational laws through many trials, the newschoolers of old discovered that reverting simply brings bad karma and should be avoided
asparagusIf you view the whole line as a trick in itself, reverting is like hopping off a rail early. For me, lines show your ability to link together different tricks in a way that is aesthetically pleasing. Reverting kinda ruins that because you weren’t able to link a switch landing trick with a switch takeoff trick.
KilaTsunamiIt’s such a minor thing to get bummed out about tho, like maybe I can ride switch just fine but wanna send this one forwards? Like why are we holding each other at Olympic standards when in reality we’re just sum goofballs tryna have fun? The whole logic is just super try hard I hate it
teabagI personally wouldn’t have fun if I was doing reverts all the time. It’s important for me that my lines look good not just because I’m afraid of people thinking I’m a shitty skier.
Let’s say I do a superfed and then revert to forward to do steezy ass 2 prez 2 on the next feature. I wouldn’t be nearly as happy if I had done a kfed to a steezy 2 prez 2, even though kfeds are a lot easier than superfeds. I care about how my lines look. If you don’t care about that it’s fine but most definitely do.
sindreplassenUnless you revert like this, is a no go

KilaTsunamiYeah I hear ya but I also hear a lot of “I NEED to look cool” hidden within that statement . Idk it’s just all seems meticulous to me

tri_photoI think it has to do with the fact that reverting takes away from the difficulty of landing a trick switch. Landing switch, fighting the momentum to continue the revert to a more comfortable position, and making it look clean can be tough to do. Reverts are almost a copout haha
