Slopestyle skiers are crazy talented and the Olympics definitely showcased as with any major slopestyle event. But one thing that bothers me with watching slopestyle is that it’s just rail trick, set trick, jump trick, set trick.
What I mean is that there is often no fluidity in between the tricks and nothing tying separate tricks together. It’s definitely the nature of the comp, course layout and the judging but I always really appreciate it when a skier does a left spin, lands switch looking over their left shoulder And goes into the next trick either spinning switch left or switch right blender for a smooth transition, and even does some nice turns in between and keep fluid body movement rather than just landing and placing their body in full weird trick set mode. Idk if anyone levels with me or knows what I’m talking about here?
obviously FWT is completely different event but it’s definitely cool how the judging and nature of it force you to focus on fluidity the whole way and it would be sick if slopestyle comp skiers took influence from this.
