Tom Wallisch is the superior commentator

Anyone else notice that Tom Wallisch out-commentates every co-announcer he’s with? Like in the mens Olympics slope it just seems like Tom is so sick of the other announcer. Like the other dude is just saying what’s on the screen, it gets funny after awhile. Bro just states the obvious.

I don’t really care for the awkward 2+ minute close up of people waiting for their score after their run is over. But yeah Tom is great at this I mean he did this shit for years he knows all the little things about comp skiing we spent like 2 decades listening to Sal Masekala make shit up I am not complaining.

Cbc has some pretty good announcers. Alex Baulieau Marchand killed it 100%. I think hes a better commentator by far.

I’d love to watch Tanner try and commentate a major comp. I think it’d just turn into an ig live style rant. Would be so fucking funny. BANANAS.

D Ferg is an OG and I think he's been doing a good job. I wish it was him and Tom commentating tho, NBC likes to stick someone that has no fucking clue what's going on with the resident skier in an attempt to help non skiers know what's going on but it tends to only make things more confusing.

Tom’s been doing a great job at commentating. It's so nice having someone who knows what they’re talking about. Listing to the Snowboard Big Air commentators was so painful. Chris Corning threw a quad, and they were like, “I think that might have been a triple”. Ughh...

he goes by his full name, selema, now. and he's legit... definitely knows the greater skate/snow world even if not a prior professional.

I got pissed off watching big air the dude was only saying “insane” and “huge” and didn’t name one trick.

Really makes me appreciate having a guy like Tom willing to take the mic and put some respect on the announcing of ski comps whether Olympics or not.

As for the fan who doesn’t know what the tricks are, that’s what the color commentator is designed for.

Sal was the voice of my childhood when it came to extreme sports. May not be as knowledgeable as Tom but X-Games hasn't been the same since he left.

Last night watching on cbc the commentators were pissing me off so much. The British guy obviously had no idea what he was talking about. At least the other guy seemed to know way more but the amount of times he said “he’s just gonna style it out” was so annoying.

but does TW always call switch double & triple rodeos corks for a reason? I want to be bugged by it but then remember I can’t do either of it :)

Ummm that's how all sports commentators are?? He's what's the called the color commentator. In like every sporting event ever there's one guy that just says what's happening, and then another guy (usually an ex pro) that gives more detailed analysis. That said, Tom does a great job.

Dude knows nothing and csnt even make conversation. He just yells things out.

Who is he and why the fuck does he have a mic. He's made some events unwatchable with volume.

British commentator was the driest and most redundant commentator I’ve ever heard in skiing. “Having fun” and “having issues” were phrases used waaaaay too much. Probably about 1000 of each used.

Other guy makes a point and Tom has to basically just be like no you’re wrong this is why. He does a good job of explaining what’s going on for the broad audience and especially explaining why tricks are difficult
