Best Vintage Cameras for Films

I really have no idea what to look for, but I am interested in trying to make a ski film just for fun. One of my friend suggested a old Sony hand cam, but he doesn't ski often. Are the ones that they use in August Light insanely expensive?

Old hand cam will do a banger fs. Especially fish eye and low down shots by a rail. Retro cams are actually mad spensive but anything digital could be cropped to 4:3 for the August Light look. I think they definitely had something digital w/ at least 60 fps because it's so damn smooth. Such a sick film.

August light was mostly on a G5 and GH5 cause they shoot 4:3 native

if you are talking about just the standard definition footage from the movie then it was all shot on a little mini dv camera i got on ebay for $30

I got a DVX recently and I would highly recommend it. I think the GL2 is another good alternative that doesn't break the bank

Is it easy on the GL2 to import it to your computer.

I just use a firewire cable and an old computer that has a firewire port. So it's a little more complicated than just using an SD card, but really not that difficult.

I've never heard that before, but then again I don't really know much about cameras. Why don't the elitists like the GL2?

If u want some a teir highquality pro footage try the panasonic hpx 170 i fucking love the footage. Idk if its vintage tho

i’ll be dead honest here, the gl2 is like a vx but shittier in every way possible. While they’re kind of right it still looks like pleasing footage, also no one uses them so +1 for not looking like everyone else.
