if i had to write a paper on it, it would go something like this:

"Newschoolers is a social networking platform made specifcally for free-skiers, it broadened the scope of possibility in ski culture. Skiers of many different backgrounds were able to consolidate skills, information and experiences which led to legitimizing freeskiing as a unique set of disciplines within skiing. Newschoolers directly defined a lifestyle different to what alpine skiing embodied at the time. Branching out past the platforms limits, free-skiing as a culture has surpassed the racing oriented culture commonly associated with alpine skiing, at least in north america......."

OP you could easily write about this. Maybe don’t focus directly on forum culture (although you could lightly cover it) but maybe center on the platform NS gives the amateur scene and how we’ve seen a boom in amateur ski content lately (which is good). You could also cover how the site covers events and then compare that to threads that discuss those same events and compare the differences or similarities.

then of course you could always talk about the “making the mountain your playground” sego bighorn meme and how that bled from NS culture into the actual ski industry.

really there’s tons you could talk about, nothing super huge but you definitely could put together a good paper from talking about the impacts of NS.

unless you live and go to school in a ski town, i just dont think anyone has any interest in the topic. im sure a certain percentage of the score will be on choosing a topic

Do whatever you want! If people were graded on how interesting the content is, no high school assignments would ever get good grades.

I think NS has a pretty weak influence on anything mainstream about society but you should talk about how it was a place for media to be posted to and discussed long before YouTube or other sites were around like that. Over the years, Newschoolers has helped individuals start up their own small companies all over the country that have likely spread influence at least a little outside this community. I honestly can't think of many strong arguments that will help you but if you put in effort, you will produce something that should meet the requirements
