nCrowHeard it was a total shit show all over the resort as a result. Glad I chose Eldora today and won’t be hitting wp tomorrow as planned
Yeah they had to shut things down in order to allocate resources and to prevent the event of something else happening. A nightmare of a situation before a major holiday week. Whoever caught that and made the judgement call to shut things down just saved a bunch of people's lives as a result.

Actually upon further research, the gondy is designed to shut down with a malfunction like that so that's promising. Still not a good look.
GayWolf420Per Reddit. Gondola at Winter Park is fubar.
Damn wtf. Have a trip planned with family to winter park coming up next week seems like this is a big problem tho. Anyone know a timeline for issues like this? Seems like it could be a while.

Holy shit they need better inspection procedures. That kind of crack doesn't just appear out of nowhere. It would have started with a crack on the lower surface, that slowly grew over days/weeks/months until the uncracked portion was insufficient for the load and quickly failed. Just an occasional visual inspection would have easily caught it and prevevented a really costly mishap.
In general the ski industry needs to invest in better structural engineering. Alta's new supreme lift is on the same track. They didn't properly predict the dynamic loads and so they're only getting a fraction of the life from it that they expected when they built it.
Coming from aerospace, these lift designers seem like absolute cowboys, navigating by the seat of their pants.
Dlonettistreet style was cool but wish the men’s field was less established like the women’s kinda was
I'm a big fan of Ahall and Colby, and both of them have enough street footage to call them street skiers to some degree, but gos damn watching them sweep this event year in and year out gets old lol. Mikkel doesn't even ride street (to my knowledge) and I was hyped to see him win just because it was someone new on the podium hahaha
Also I was watching on my phone at a bar, why did siver not podium, did they say the reasoning?

I know that clip is crazy and I'm not doubting he'd be a monster in the streets I'm just saying I don't know of any mikkel street segments or anything. Like at least Colby was in Roasted and Ahall is in the streets every single winter grinding so I can respect them being there every year
Alta passholders:
If you miss a parking reservation, are you actually penalized for it? Says online that they can suspend your access if you no-show, but have they actually ever done that to you?
I agree, it's annoying when a guy who hasn't made its mark in the streets is invited to a street style event. At the same time invite type of events are usually based off if you're known or if you're the homie

The IQ level in Grand county doesn't seem to be too high up here but im no expert on lifts. I too am very confused by this whole ordeal.

i dont think i’ve heard anything, but a lot of his lines seemed similar. pretty sure he did illusive on the quad twice and 4 p 2 on the last rail twice

I don't expect the seasonal lifties to be anything other than stoned 22 year olds. But the facilities/maintenance guys and the engineers at Doppelmayr/Poma should be better than this

Is it at a weld seam? I'd put it at a materials or manufacturing defect before a legit engineering error if it is
For a tiny hill, this setup flows really nicely and the rails/boxes are greasy. Can't wait for heat seeking groomer laps down to the park again. A huge shout out to my director, slopes managers, and park crew for letting us hit stuff in uniform so that we can have "skiers test it". Coworkers and bystanders were pumped

There's no weld in the pictures from WP. A steel box beam just cracked in two, nowhere near a joint. Unless they accidentally used counterfeit Chinesium steel, it seems like an engineering or inspector error
Yeah, I work at a resort too. Patrol guys used to have a little more leeway but their new boss is a total killjoy.
SchizoSkierWe get fucked if we’re doing anything cool in our uniform and ride breaks, huge trouble if ur seen in the park or even skiing switch on the clock .

That's kind fucked up. One time I saw one patroller teach another patroller rails in the park and they where both in uniform
randomly coming across lips while i’m driving around in the twin cities is one of my fav things. so cool to know a crew was here doing the same stuff i like to do. makes skiing feel so much bigger and connected

I thought etiquette was to take down lips or anything else that could be in the way when done.

feel the same way about eileen gu getting first place with her full custom designer fit even though she has never done one seg in street
Rock_Inhabitant74jordy is skiing brainrot. No style, no personality, no real projects, just 15 second instagram clips of him hucking meat off a jump. He’s just another forgettable insta skier tbh
i feel like people only agree with this because he's sponsored by dopesnow. i prefer the aggressive freeride he does to the same old rail hits with flailing arms and trendy clown pants i'm constantly subjected to on instagram.
ppl say he's a candide clone but isn't everyone and their mom a magnus graner clone nowadays?

One time as a kid I did a freestyle course on a trip, and when we were making our little video edit at the end of the course, the instructor was like "yo don't let my boss see that" for a clip of him doing a mellow phillips handplant on a spine.
years later I think about that and I'm like "what bs, aren't the instructors supposed to inspire the kids?"
Day before we left for Christmas vacation my program director pulled me aside and put me on point with getting a learn to ski trip organized at our sites. Excited to partner with the organization I learned to ski through as a kid and get this off the ground after the new year.
Merry christmas ns gang! Going night skiing at snoqualmie with the fam tonight and im super stoked, hope you all are getting some sweet sweet pow for christmas. I'll be on my snowboard cause it woulda deadass been a grand to bring my skis home on lufthansa, we'll see how that goes lmao.
30 days in row... finally taking a day off. Didn't want to but my knees made the call. Looks like we're about to get pounded in NW CO. Better rest up... prob another 30 in a row before the next day off.
