muffMan.Debating if it’s a mistake to even try I-70 today
bro don’t listen to that euro trash @Rock_Inhabitant this is the deepest day of the season by far. the morning will be filled with snow safety work and hopefully some bigger hits open this afternoon. get your ass onto your skis!!
Just drove the sketchiest drive of my life. Planning to hit Crested Butte but we said “let’s hit monarch instead. It’s on the way and we have partner days”. So we get to the gate on Gunnison side and it’s closed. Trucker coming down says “it’s wild”. Turns out there were some slides. So eventually they let us through and we’re a line of like 20 cars. Wind was so bad at the top of the pass that I went snowblind and couldn’t see the car in front of me (despite their double blinkers). Then, just past monarch resort, we got stuck in standstill for a bit. I think one of the cars in front hit a bank and the other cars helped them out.
Mental note: don’t do Monarch pass in a blizzard and believe truckers when they say it’s crazy.

The only time I drove over Monarch pass was in a uhaul and it was the most terrifying drive of my life. The was my first experience putting chains on and they weren’t the right size. Do not recommend

update: everything is closed lol. hope you didnt get stuck on i70. also @Rock_Inhabitant just out here catching strays 😆 my B.
if you do make it, 30 inches in 30 hours hasn’t happened in my neck of the woods in years. i was sending hits and lines i didn’t have the balls to hit at all last year because there was so much snow today. hit my first legit pillow line and sent a hollywood line that was huge for my typical skiing. stoke is maxed out 10/10 day for sure.

CAIC is saying indefinite closure on Berthoud pass. “Most unstable snow they’ve seen in 30 years”

Damb. So glad I live 20 mins from skiing now. Purg was deep af yesterday. I’m def tryna pull up to CB at some point this season tho
Nimbus movies were always the best. The highschool kid in me would kill me if they knew I still haven't skiied a proper pow day at a mountain that is over 600ft.
But I can also still have fun finding the tiniest "pow" stashes in the densest trees when im out west, that most people wouldn't even consider worth skiing. Just trying to feel like the Nimbus dudes.

Go to Rusutsu and Niseko before you're too old, almost guaranteed powder january-feb.

lmao dude i was gonna say, when the trucker in a vehicle literally 10x heavier than your car says it's wild, you should probably take his word for it
I know this is kinda nit picky and a long shot but if anyone has some busted pivot heel pieces I will buy the little plastic ends if you don’t mind ripping them off and mailing to me.
At one resort I worked at, name badges were our passes. Names on one side, barcodes on the other. Small resort though so didn’t have to bother with scanning for instructors
GayWolf420Hear me out: Name Badges that are also your work pass that have RFID capabilities
My friend hit a little 4' max drop into powder, double ejected. Face planted right onto a rock. His helmet potentially saved him from being a veggie for life. The goggles have a pretty good scratch up them, too.

tell him to sell it on snowshare now lightly used. but for real thats a hard ass hit
I need a cast setup so bad on my pow skis. In addition i also need another 18 heal piece for the touring skis imma get for college. I’m thinking QST Echo or Wren tour if i can find one

Holy shit dawg that’s why I ski with a helmet always. The craziest consequences are hiding behind the mellowest stuff. Also can we get a photo of the inner padding?

Bro you don't need that. You were just complaining about not being able to afford $100 college apps. 1600+ dollars in skis/cast isn't needed.
Buy a cheap set off Facebook and save the extra 1k for books. You'll thank yourself later

i most likely wont be paying for college. idk my parents not paying for apps is just stingy. still applied to schools i wanted not what they wanted. SLU, Dartmouth, Bates, Williams, HBWS, Santa Clara, Buff state, plattsburgh. If my parents want to pay for Utah or wisconsin apps i’ll apply there since they want me to go there. Idk i feel like 4-500$ in college apps total for a kid seems like a lot. But seeing as I have no life expenses unless i wanna eat out it’s a prolly a good thing my parents made me pay for them. Educations expensive

i’ve also got a pair of MSP 99’s with Marker Frames on it and a Pair of Marksman with pivot 18s and day makers. Skins for both. Would ideally like to put cast on the marksman and then use my dad’s old all track 130s for boots. Then just buy another pair of skis/heel pieces and cast
been working two nights a week and then both days on the weekend coaching. haven’t spent hardly anything. feels rly good seeing my savings jump by a few hundred dollars every week

Yea it's the Code. Yea I agree, getting a nice fitting helmet makes it feel comfortable enough to wear for everything cus it is always the unexpected little shit that gets ya

Im confused. Why on earth do you need three pairs of heavy ass touring skis? Two of which have Cast? Youll literally never use those. I mean I can understand an ultralight set up and a beefy set up...(even though 99% of people that do this end up selling the beefy set because they never use it).....but three beefy set ups, with two in the same waist width is dumb.
Buying three pairs of touring skis and then getting used hand me down touring boots is also an interesting strat. Id get good fitting boots before touching any of those skis. Boot issues are amplified 10 fold in the BC. Not really the place to just wing it on the boots.
Also unless i am missing something....none of those colleges are backcountry destinations.

Yup to all this. I threw the cast system on my k108s last year, used them on a few tours, and found that yeah, I want to pursue that more. Bought a pair of used Wildcat 108 tours with Teckton 13 bindings on them. I only see myself skiing the k108s inbounds now. Maybe if I buy a pair of 120 width powder boards I’ll move the Cast over to those.

Well i’ve alr got the marksman with pivot 18s. I have a nice fitting pair of All tracks but they don’t have pins. I was recommended a QST Echo for a resort/touring ski for the adk. esp since it’s usually pretty variable up there. I wouldn’t take the MSP99s with me and tbh might sell them. I really like the stance 90s but a msp91 could be a fun fs ski
