Usually not much of a need to spot on that because to skiers right is fully roped off, and you can see from the top if somone's gone into the landing. What I couldn't see was someone dropping and traversing in exactly that one spot at exactly that time when I'm focused on the inrun, they snuck in from behind the other people after clearly looking up that way, and yeah, I just need to be more careful. It's one of those weird freak close calls that I don't know could have been prevented unless it was 'hey everyone clear out so I can make sure this one guy doesn't choose to drop in behind all of you where I can't see them right as I drop into a place no one in their right mind would go.'
in the future, I'm just not going to hit it if there are people in the area that I don't know.

yeah i don’t know the spot but i also wasn’t blaming you. more the at least 7 on lookers whom could have given you a clear and communicated to them that they were about to see some radness lol

for sure, we all kind of just fucked up, must have had some lucky star watching out for me there.
It was such weird timing I don't think there was anything they could have done. With that jump, there's also kind of a moment where if you try to stop, you're fucked and I think that by the time he dropped in I was past that. We could have been more observant about who exactly was watching, but jeez, I can't think of a single thing any of them could have done at that point because of it being such weird timing.

ankle is slowly improving. did a week non weight bearing and now am starting to walk lightly and starting exercises tomorrow. PT said i should be good to ski around mid may so all is not lost

I thrifted a few pairs of bamboo poles recently and now i dont think I can go back to metal poles, so much lighter and steezier. But I paid like 30 total for 3 pairs, 150 seems crazy for two pieces of bamboo and some grips.

It is pretty pricey. Idk the durability compared to other bamboo offerings but they're solid. I got a pair ~5 years ago after bending too many metal poles. These things are bomb proof and the baskets are amazing.

Been using my set of Panda Poles for over 17 seasons. Ive had to replace the baskets a time or two and the straps but havent had to buy a set of poles since.

i've had my composite k2 barber poles for 10+. I always wonder why I see so few composite pole users (yes, they're "dangerous")
Was just rewatching some child labor and Brolf kinda reminds me of Ben Kadow. Often looks pissed in his street clips and generally his clips have a lot of personality to them which I really appreciate.

I love Magma don't get me wrong but I wish they'd stop doing the Youtube-slop style thumbnails and captions. Maybe it helps them boost the views but rn their videos with normal captions (gonzo, thank you kimbo, magma series, etc) have at least double the views of the other videos so I don't get it. maybe they talked about this on a podcast or something and I missed it

Those thumbnails/captions are a fine match for the content within them. They are not serious edits just them being goofy and messing around with a little bit of good skiing mixed in. Reminds me of Chug Life, just a little more family friendly.

agreed. magma mondays are to keep you engaged during the season and then in the fall we get the full movies which are always one of my favorites. stoked they always got that thang on them 🎥 getting clips can be hard lol

It's pretty clear they're joking though. "WE TRIED STREET SKIING!!" would be a cringey title from SteepSteep, but anybody bothering to watch magma Mondays will already know that they already do a lot of street skiing
