What is the replacement for the now-extinct Salomon STH2 16? I don't fuck with Attacks at all, don't want pivots, is the answer just to switch to marker or is there a similar binding out there?
Just skied 14 days straight on the annual Utah trip, with a detour to Jackson Hole for a few days on the way back. Experienced just about every weather condition to keep things interesting. Set off a mini wind slab storm skiing Snowbasin and a decent sized loose wet in Bernie's bowl at Jackson.
Can't stop thinking about tram laps, nonstop slush bumps, main chute, snake runs, untouched pow bushwhacking at Snowbasin, and the amount of cliffs at Jackson. Closed out keystone on Sunday for 15 out of 16 days skiing. My legs are dead.

Strives are supposed to be the replacement no? I got a pair of 16s and have been really liking them. I was a pivot only kind of guy but was tired of how fragile the brakes are, but strives seem pretty beefy and haven’t had any issues come up

This sounds like an epic trip!! Any photos? Chairlift selfies, balcony views, meals?
Or was it all just a dream you had?!LOL
I was just there a few weeks ago doing a similar trip, was not 15 days but 5 and it made me miss home for sure.

idk your brake size but i see sth 2 16 options on google shopping, and for pretty decent prices. also remember they have armada branded ones too (atomic too right?)
also why arent you considering the strive? it's the replacement for the sth, same heel piece, and i haven't heard anything substantively negative about them (yet?)

Know nothing about the strive but if that's the replacement by Salomon it's probably worth a shot, I'll probably get a pair and report my findings lol
I have strives and am not the biggest fan. Boot toe wiggles even when toe height is set “correctly,” had to crank that sucker down, still moving but can’t go any tighter. Pre releasing even at 12 din and correct forward pressure. On pivots I ran 7 with no issues. Shoulda gone marker instead. (Got used sticks and pivots wouldn’t work, had to dodge pivot and sth holes)

please do if you do get them, i'm curious too
but yeah i think i see some good options online for STH2s and i wouldn't blame you for sticking to what you know. here's a pair with 90 or 130 brakes for $214, and you need to check for yourself of course but i'm pretty sure Outdoor XL is a legit place

Damn that sucks, really like the sth2s and next pair I was thinking about some strives but those sound like some serious problems

Yeah my friend had a pair of strives and had these same issues.

I was looking at those too but 90mm and 130mm are both kinda far from the 108s im trying to mount them on lol. Wonder if the 130s would work with a little bending
Goretex_VidalMy last day of work is June 23, I have zero obligations after that until July 3.
Boston-Beartooth-Boston sounds doable.
You will not regret it, Beartooth is the raddest place, especially if you have touring gear. Even if you don't there's still so much car-accessible terrain and people are usually stoked on picking up hitchhikers. The bigass cornice send is still burned into my mind, it's the fastest I've ever gone outside of nuking groomers. Plus tons of legit camping, climbing opportunities if you're into that, Red Lodge is a cool little town with a decent brewery on the north end of town. I'd go back in a second if I could, there's really no guarantee they'll open up again

oh word yeah. i'm a princess about brake overhang, i can't stand them being even a little too big. i wouldn't do the 130s in your case either
yea i guess they are pretty rockered.
they look weird to me still not being a full twin, but a pretty aggressive/progressive ski compared to their other offerings
hopefully i can cop em and get a little spring touring in

Join the STH Cult and never look back. Its the greatest ski binding of all time. I'm still unsure about the transfer switch on the toe pieces for MNC but the WTR still holds up.

I'm a big fan but a while back my pair got loose wings and I didn't feel like worrying about it. That must've been the first ones cause it was ages ago
Wish I'd kept them, they're great bindings, I love the old school Salomon look to them, and most importantly they have the best click-in sound/feel of all time
Bruh. Was just there. Had zero clue what I was doing though. Find chair 4, there is a sick jump under it. Mind boggling amount of terrain too. My feet got so fried, had to go dogs out in the lodge at lunch and lube up. Def unbuckle on the chairs n shit.
lmao nice i’ll prolly end up doing something similar. good lookin jump i’ll try and find it
