big sky jumps are the only thing i need in skiing. I do not care about rails, powder, cliffs, and jumps smaller than 35 feet as long as i have these jumps i will continue to ski. I genuinely believe it is impossible to truly get bodied on these jumps unless you land directly upside down since they're so low impact

Yeah and I hear they are sick to ski. I would've got a pair already but they are prone to delamination and I want to ski them like 5 days a year on powder. I imagine I would get a pair and put ~25 on em in 5 years then have them delaminate and not be warrantied.
I saw @Line_Skis claiming on insta recently that its completly normal for their skis to delaminate after 3 years no matter how many times you actually ski them. I dont wanna deal with all that but I really want to ski Pescados on an 18" day.

local season ending but for the first time i’ve got pretty much nothing holding me back from chasing winter. 2 months ish of unemployed ski bumming starting monday
also did k fed and back 3 swap continue 2 on our challenge tube today
Yeah I'm kind of ready for this "ski area" I work for to shut down next Sunday and bike season to begin. What a fluke. Sorry locals. Luckily WP is open till May!

I saw a guy assault 2 people at Alta today. The first one, he smacked with a pole for not letting him jump the whole Wildcat line to group up. The second time, he grabbed a woman by her collar at the base of Collins shook her, and tried to shove her on the ground.
It took me a second to figure out what was going on, but i grabbed a patroller and set him after the guy as he tried to flee. I hope he ended up in a jail cell
I'm starting to see why some people carry weapons on the hill. The guy was around 6'3, and well over 200 lbs. The woman he attacked stood up for herself and tried to fight back with her poles, but she couldn't do much

holy shit that's insane. fighting on the hill is so scary, with poles, skis, and... boots. also attacking a woman is crazy.
Is it possible to get bindings recalibrated? I've been using the same set of Attack 13s for 5 years now and I've been releasing a lot easier than I'd expect for the din (esp landing switch). Fwd pressure, afd height, etc. are all set properly
Just cranking up the dins feels unsafe, are shops able to recalibrate bindings to meet their proper release values?

im not a 100% on any reset or replacing parts but shops can certainly test the binding to see if the binding is releasing at the din it says and potentially tell you something like when your binding is set at 11 its releasing like a 9. my guess is the springs are worn and its time for some pivots lol

Sounds like the spring no longer has the same tension. Take the skis to a shop that has an actual binding tester (bigass torque wrench that can check that actual values of the release torque). For example, if your binding is set for an 8 (twisting release torque of 78nm), but is releasing at 67nm, they shop can crank up the binding to release at 78nm. However they can’t recalibrate the indicator window, so you’ll want to get those bindings regularly checked at a shop with a binding tester.

I have an old set of marker barons, they are set to +2 my usual din cause of how used they are.

Over the years that I had the pleasure of being able to call LCC home for skiing, I came to notice that it wasn't just the dreaded Ikoners, Californians, or whatever that made the experience kind of lame sometimes but rather the the multi-decade washed up curmudgeonly LCC local kooks who moved out west with their parents money from the east
and still live the "bum life" when they're nearly 50. Have seen a lot of that stuff as well as verbally abusing employees and patrollers because control work isn't following their precious schedule I guess. Great places to ski but yeah some of the locals there are gigantic pieces of shit and are huge scum bags

Idk, he had a texan/Midwestern look but it definitely wasn't his first day here.
He walked up to wildcat at 9:12 loudly shouting for singles to let him into the line to join them. Then aggressively whacked the first guy with his pole because he was a single that didn't offer to let him jump in.
The woman he assaulted a few hours later was an off-duty employee so i hope she was able to get his pass pulled at a minimum

there is a big cliquey social scene there for sure. Not that bird doesn't have it's groups of locals but I feel like we all get along and overall a smaller local group exists there.

It is cliquey. But there's nothing at Alta equivalent to the tram line to really get people mad. It's not the snowbird passholders that are the assholes, it's the tourists and people that have been "saving their base ikon days". Plus most of the LCC line cutting/road rage is due to Snowbird's parking policies

I've definitely seen locals cutting lines at bird before, but I also rarely take the tram on the weekends since I opt to not be on that unless it's walk ons.
Honestly, I hope the parking policies don't change. It would suck to have to reserve a spot when I haven't really ever had trouble finding one before.

I've loved Alta's parking reservations. There hasn't been a single day this season that i wanted to go, but wasn't able to find a reservation or a spot in a car.
I think snowbird going to a full reservation system would help with traffic a ton too, esp on road closure days. It spreads out the demand since everyone going knows they have a guaranteed spot, they don't all feel compelled to fight their way up the canyon at 7:30
Shops will test and can adjust the din accordingly. I know Powder7 does on the front range. E.g. putting a binding at 8 when the 8 din value tests at a 6 because you want the 6 value.

Kinda dig the Social Media blackout for Natural Selection Ski. Keeps things fresh as opposed to FWT posting spoilers for all the events, especially for us north Americans because of the timezone differences.

I got a Brighton pass this year because getting past snowbird to Alta was getting unbearable, despite the reserved Alta parking being great. Now BCC has similar issues due to the tire check inefficiencies and Brighton not being able to figure out how to park cars faster.
