SteezyYeeteranyone have experience with cutting/trimming glades in vermont? i wanna start contributing to what i enjoy most.
I’m pretty sure some of the closed ski areas in Southern Vermont have volunteer groups that maintain the touring zones (just looked it up, Dutch Hill has DHASH4vt.org where you can sign up for work days)
Stairmaster 4 days a week and squats once a week has immensely improved my tree skiing. I used to be hurting after a long day. Just did 3 in a row at jay with minimal soreness.
edges always crack under foot due to repeated impact of course. so what if it was a full on metal grind plate or reinforced like a full inch in on that particular part?? sure, flex pattern would be altered and unsure how it would impact turn radius, etc. what have companies already done to try and combat this??

i forget who did it but i remember some ski construction having the inner and outer edges tied together withing the core
How much does training tricks on a tramp help? I never did tramp shit and I suck balls. Also afraid to throw new shit to hardpack and pow days are usually spent blasting steep zones. Would like to learn flat3, frontie, dub back, cork 3-10 ect but dont have a place to consistently train at or people to go with. I'm ambitious but my fear is greater than my ambition unfortunately.

It definitely helps with general air awareness, spotting landings, quick repetition, plus you get the mental benefit of having "done it before" (kinda). But skis and boots change things, as does forward momentum. The weight of skis/boots changes your center of gravity, and it's hard to mimic the swing weight/air resistance from skis on a trampoline. Add that to the fact that you're moving forward pretty quickly, and the similarities between tramp and real-world skiing start to fade. It's also hard to properly carve into a spin on a trampoline, so the way you set tricks ends up being different between the two.
In the end it's all commitment, if you can do it well on a tramp you can probably do it on skis but it's hardly 1:1
I'll add to this, that on tramp I can do the floatiest backies, dub 10/14, rodeos/flatspins, all the cool shit, but apparently I'm the world's biggest pussy on skis because I can only cork 7 (sometimes), am shit at straight spins, and have only attempted one backflip (not counting airbags). So take from all that what you will.

@JLev the streets demand the return of the Weapons
CatdickBojanglesYeah it was called edge armor. The Suspects and Dumonts had it and it would usually lead to a ski exploding.
Sounded like a good idea at the time I bet
Anyone know what the deal was with the atomic punx that had an extra edge inserted like an inch in from the normal edge.

I forgot what the idea behind the extra edge was. I had a pair of 08-09 Punx (black and gold) that had a different harder base material under foot to help hold the edge and avoid base damage from rails. It was a different color for “heat reasons”.

@onenerdykid not a boot question but hoping you have an answer.
how to clean up my switch riding? it’s kinda always been what i’ve struggled with and it’s come a long way but i still don’t like how my legs get wide. i want to have my feet together like ferdi or someone, is it all just edge control? https://www.newschoolers.com/videos/watch/1106809/IMG-1125-mov
Knees bent ass out. Shoulders in line with fall line/ chest pointing cross the hill. (switch is the one thing I'd like to think I'm better than average at.)

Way before my time at Atomic (pre-2010) but that ski doesn't appear to have an extra edge, just a different base material in the general area where you hit rails, etc. We do this on our WC slalom skis to mitigate base wear but I doubt it helped at all on this ski.

The only thing I can find on it was that it was there to help take some of the impact off the edges when landing on rails. Kinda one of those better on paper ideas. Looks like it was on the urban punx and triplets. Famous for coming with 3 skis instead of just 2.
I rode a 5 edge ski once. Kinda dumb idea tbh and was stiff as shit.

VzxGonna try to learn f4 today anyone have any tips?
don’t look down, keep looking around. the biggest hold up is wanting to spot the landing like a f2 so forget everything you know about a f2 lol. wouldn’t hurt to do some low fast 3s on your way to the park each run.
Similar thing: For popping off the rail is there anything I need to do with my feet or just pop and chuck? When I do back2 it’s almost like a late back surface to spin. (Do look at my feet like a Jerry, though since I did my last b2 got better at rails.)

Thanks for the tips! I got a whole 10 hours of skiing today hopefully I can lace it.

im no coach or anything lol. but my guess is that you’re probably not bending your knees enough while on the rail and therefore your pops are lower. you def dont wanna be hitting your tips when coming around and absolutely don’t be looking down. i look past the feature more towards the run in of the next feature, get a good pop and commit to getting my head and shoulders around. maybe practice doing nollie off a few times while looking to the next feature and excessively stomping the shit out of that?? you’ll be stomping the shit outta nollie B2s like tom warnick (sip) in no time. idk tho lol

Like it’s a pretty tame spot but is throwing a threatening aura to me. I think it’s the fact that it’s a ditch gap that looks like the rail I broke my rib on while rollerblading

just throw it and keep your head tucked. body follows the head/shoulders
GayWolf420Oh wow what a shocker. Another FWT event postponed in a shitty eastern European country
remember when the FWT would go to snowbird. and like crested butte and kirkwood and shit. you know, places where like half the fucking athletes are from and have large freeride communities. there hasn't been an event in the lower 48 in like 15 years now. i blame lolo besse he is a frenchie and his dreads look like shit.

Sadly it was largely insurance issues. Most companies dropped the events, and they were left with really only one or two companies that gouged the hell out of them. Same issue still plagues the FWQ here in the states unfortunately.
new sticks mounted! stoked on the flex compared to the ARVs i had for sure. gonna ski them tomorrow
All plays are so much fun. I had a pair I wish I never would’ve got rid of. Probably one of the funniest skis I’ve been on. Tails have the perfect flex.
