well fuck. i just landed a little nose heavy coming off switch from a rail and boom no more heel piece. been riding these for about 1 full season pretty heavy and i had them mounted at kunstadt in kanata which is a very reliable shop.
ill prob plug up the holes with west systems g flex or smt and re drill but still a bummer to have this happen.
I love skiing and I love the people that love skiing. I’ve been filled with so much gratitude for the lessons that skiing has taught me, and the people that have helped teach me those lessons.
some of you guys are out there, just know i love y’all so much.
I know exactly what he did. He was at mountain house west and there’s a little gate/area that connects the parking lot and some condos. If the snow isn’t too high, the gate is open and they don’t know where they are - this can happen. Although, most with common sense wouldn’t do that.
GrandThingsAnyone ski Keystone/know how this could possibly happen? Dude must have been hammered right?
I swear I must have some pretty bad feet. Lost both big toe nails so far this season as I do every year and one of them was even cut way back….still managed to fall off and now my feet are getting bunions like its no tomorrow. Aggggrrrhh…. My feet even with custom insoles are flat too.

have you already tried a bootfitter? that’s what stopped me loosing big toenails every season

I go to a bootfitter for all my boots haha. Tbh my toes havent been the same since a backpacking trip about 8 years ago. Got lost on a weekend trip and ended up hiking 30 miles instead of 12 😂. From blood blisters to black toenails in hiking shoes that were too small. Thinking about just getting rid of my big toe nails at this point. Already lost about 10 or 12 of them.

BradFiAusNzCoCaHa I had the same thought when I saw the news about it. Apparently, they know who it is and they’re contacting them.
Punching an instructor over a jump. Damn homie..
Had a similar situation only had an athlete get thrown in a headlock at PC during the covid season. Something about a mask disagreement and heated emotions. Tried our best to diffuse it. Can talk about it now cuz I think it's been legally resolved, but yeah, people freak the fuck out on ski hills sometimes.
Won't ever forget getting a call from PC police before Christmas with family in town and having to fill out a witness statement. As a result, VR decided to ban the athletess for 30 days and I got the toss for the rest of the season while the perp got a lifetime ban.
crimeenthusiastim getting there too. it was great while it lasted but everyone and there mother wants to be here and its getting to be too much.
Feels like there’s not even an attempt to control traffic. The parking reservations helped BCC but now the tire check is backing things up. Every year it’s something different.
2-3 inch pow at Berkshire East AKA Thunder mountain Bike Park I was riding AR6's and a few different LINES for about 12 years which I loved. Broke out the ON3P Woo smins today and super fun.
First few runs were so much different riding a 108MM underfoot a few inches back compared to true center on my Armada's and LiINES. But after 5 runs or so i got it the hang of it. Rockers are a fucking blast.

There ever won't be an attempt to control traffic because the resorts are also in bed with local Utah politicians and the tourism board. It's bad for business to tell people to go do something else. At least how I've felt at someone who grew up skiing there. UPD is also pants on head retarded and should just stick to patrolling neighborhoods and preventing homeless/tweaker crime that floods in from the city and and actually doing their jobs instead of making sure your car has 4WD/AWD.
Having a Brighton midweek pass that allowed for night skiing is about the only good way to ski good storm systems there anymore without waiting in lines if you're down with freezing your ass off and skiing with a headlamp. Noon patrol is dead in the cottonwoods

I may just have to night ski after work. It gets old when after a work week I have to plan my whole weekend around how to get up the mountain. I'm over having to wake up at 6am to have fun when I want my weekends to be relaxing.

The bus is so fucking bad. I'd been avoiding it for 3 years but gave it another try today. Got in line at 2pm and still wasn't close to getting on at 3:15. Ended up hitchhiking down BCC.
I want to find out who (name and address of an actual person) decided to cut the bus service in half and organize some serious pressure on him or her. Public outcry at an organization doesn't mean shit. Public pressure on an individual might make a difference

homies gonna be on a watch list after this post lmao.
no clue what the issue is cause in ski towns its typically staffing but the cottonwood canyons seem to have the whole slc to pull from right?
how was hitch hiking though? i have a pitboard whiteboard i use to hitch hike that says “the happy hitchhiker” and its super successful for getting picked up

Hitchhiking was great, but we got very lucky. A local doctor pulled up to the bus line and said she had 3 spots, so we and the guy next to us hopped in.
And I'm not supporting anything violent lmao. But a protest in front of an actual person's house would go a long way. I'm sick of these unelected "politicians" having no accountability and just hiding behind "UDOT has budget constraints" when it's an actual individual person making the decision to ruin ski service (and likely profiting off of it)
I want the whole valley to know that (John/Jane Doe) chose to cancel their ski busses. The other parents at their kids' private school will know who not to carpool with anymore. Their neighbors will know who not to invite to the monthly Book Club. And the lifties will know whos lawn to shit on.

you would think but i guess the rules are written such that you cant increase certain routes unless the whole system is increased. hence, we have the cs1 and cs2 which is a start, but they cut the ski bus a couple years ago heavily and its not been good since. UDOT wants the canyon to be a shit show so it can buy the gondola with tax payer money.

I forgot to add that the bus was full before it even got to the 6200 stop. So fort union was filling it up completely.

Yeah, i assumed that would be the case and went straight to fort union. Even at 10:30 we entirely filled the bus with like 10 people left over.
When we pulled up to the Holladay park and ride, there were around 100 people waiting, but our bus didn't even stop
Another thing about the Utah "ski traffic crisis": Complaining while still being able to go ski or even worse which is while you're skiing. You could also NOT be able to ski or live somewhere desolate or just simply not have the ability. Crowds suck, but all the complaining back there just comes off as whiny and entitled imo. Be grateful for even a shed of an opportunity to go do it still. Far too many good days I've had back there spent with lift rides of crusty locals who couldn't just appreciate the fact they get to ski pow even for a few laps. The cottonwood culture has been and always will be one of the most elitist and entitled scenes on planet earth and this was way before Alterra took over

I can’t ride switch left well at all. I think you probably just need to grind it out until you can carve properly but it feels terrible lol
