Replying to Playing with the idea of a new ski for this spring, need recommendations
Hey guys, considering picking up a new ski for spring and hardpack conditions and was hoping for recommendations. Here is my criteria:
Ski will be used for touring like 75% of the time, likely mounted with something lighter like the new moment binding.
I primarily ski in the wasatch.
At present I mostly ski on a WNDR 110 with the rocker profile, and I'm happy with it for the majority of the time. I want something that handles better in hard conditions. The tricky thing for me is that most 100 or less underfoot touring skis seem more designed around doing big days on volcanos or whatever, and that isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I am more concerned with doing dumb jibs in the backcountry than cutting weight hard, and want something that can hopefully handle the occasional day ripping groomers and sidehits at Alta in the spring.
Does such a ski exist? How would something like a mirus cor handle off piste? Maybe something like a jeffery 102 with a touring layup? Wildcard option: skiblades mounted with a touring binding?
Any thoughts or opinions appreciated. Thanks!
