Hello ski gang,
We want to know what your craziest skiing experience is! We have all had an epic fail or an embarrassing moment skiing, but that is what defines us as skiiers! Even when we get injured, these are teachable moments that we can eventually look back and laugh on.
I'll go first.
A few years ago:
The FreeTheSki cofounders (My brother and I) took a trip up to Jay Peak on a 12" pow day. We were having a blast ripping up all the glades, and then one of us had the smart idea to go under the rope. There was no sign that said closed as it was just the border of the mountain, but we wanted to have some nice backcountry fun!
Right when we pulled up the rope to go under, we were instantly knee deep in some gorgeous pow. We started making our way through the trees, just steep enough to ride along. My brother was ahead of me and took a left around a tree. I took a right, clipped my ski on small tree sticking out of the ground and next thing I knew I was hanging off the edge of a cliff with my head facing towards the trench. The only thing that was stopping me was my ski stuck to the tree. I was fully engulfed by the pow, about to be eaten alive. My brother took off his skis and started to making his way towards me. He starts to try to help me up, but the powder makes it so difficult to do anything. By the time I stood up an hour had already passed, but ultimately I didn't fall down a cliff and we made it back on the trail right after.
So what's yours?
